Various scholars and socio-political analysts have continued to advance the cause of societal rot and have never failed to heap the major blame on poor leadership and the ineptitude of many leaders in the corridors of power. Even beyond political sychophancy which many citizens have come to attribute to many praise singing about those in government irrespective of their performances, there are indeed leaders who have distinguished themselves in their service to the people.
Even those who for obvious reasons would refuse to see anything good with our contemporary political leaders or their performances in office would readily admit that Rt. Honorable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has no match as far as good governance is concerned. The administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi have been able to change the perception of citizens about those about government through concerted dedication of whatever that is at his disposal, to ensure that the confidence reposed in him by the people of Enugu State is eternally sustained. One may be surprised at the deluge of testimonies which springs from far and near bearing positive declarations from various organizations both in the Diaspora and at home. These innumerable eulogies, recognition and commendations were not products of mere wish or talk but were earned through meticulous application of exceptional leadership skills clearly exhibited by Gov.Ugwuanyi.
Our people often say that as a man danced so the drums were beaten for him and If the rhythm of the drum beat changes, the dance step must adapt to the rhythm.
On 25th September, 2021, a cross section of people made up of professionals, political actors, entrepreneurs and other nationals drawn across various States in Turkey, stormed the award venue situated in Neyzen Kumkapi, S.K No 12/10, Kumkapi, Istanbul Turkey. This mammoth crowd repeatedly chorused solidarity songs in support of administration of Gov.Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. This uncommon support from Turkish Community became necessary as a result of the transformational efforts of Rt.Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, which is anchored on openess, compatibility, tolerance and meticulous engagement with his subjects and other nationals within and outside the shores of the nation. It is for this reason that they concluded that only distinctive and exceptional leaders as Gov.Ugwuanyi could have produced the major progress which are evidently seen and observed in Enugu State.
During the groundbreaking occasion, Gov. Ugwuanyi was meritoriously decorated as the 2021 Most Peaceful Governor in Nigeria. The total number of 7 awards was received by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Mobilization and Empowerment Hon.Mrs Bibian Anekwe, who represented Gov.Ugwuanyi.
Notably, Gov.Ugwuanyi is guided by the words of Kathleen Newland and Sonia Plaza which acknowledges that” an engaged Diaspora can be an Asset”. From time immemorial especially when he ascended the position as the first citizen of Enugu State, he had continued to nurture and maintain synergy with indigenes of Enugu State living in far away diaspora. This had thus, offered opportunities for profitable investments and other forms of aids attracted to the State. However, numerous achievements of Gov.Ugwuanyi had continued to appear on the record books of various International organizations and bodies. And in solidarity, these notable Organizations and bodies have continued to lend their support for the administration of Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi whose sterling performances had continued to be observed beyond the Nation’s shoreline.
An African proverb affirms that pregnancy cannot be covered with hands. It is on this note that United Nations(UN) Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, during his visit to Enugu State, having keenly studied the impactful leadership of Gov.Ugwuanyi, rained non-stop words of commendation on Gov.Ugwuanyi for the notable progress and investments his administration had achieved, as clearly seen in improved healthcare system, economic growth, education reform, infrastructure and human capital development as well as unrelenting efforts towards maintenance of peace and order in the State. All this and more were part of the reason, the government of Enugu State under the leadership of Gov.Ugwuanyi, had a reinforced partnership between the UN to address the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic and speed up implementation of the SDGs to become more active; and to continue to create result producing solutions for economic growth in the state.
Even as the World Bank according to its report on Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria, ranked Enugu State as the third best state to start a business in Nigeria after Abuja and Lagos, Gov.Ugwuanyi had not relented in unleashing the dividends of good leadership to the good people of Enugu State.
