FOR MORE EFFECTIVE, EFFICIENT AND SPEEDY DISPENSATION OF JUSTICE IN ENUGU STATE. (A JUDICIARY REFORM )
The Judiciary also known as the judicial system or court system is the system of court that interprets and applies the law in the name of a state. The judiciary also provides a mechanism for the resolution of disputes. This branch of the organ of government is often tasked with ensuring equal justice under law.
From the citizen’s point of view, Judiciary is the most important organ of the government because its responsibility is to safeguard the rights of the people.
Despite all the challenges this country was and still facing: recession and economic melt down due to fall in prices of petroleum in the world market, which affected the states including Enugu state, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi still focus in his vision to rebuild and strengthen the judicial system in Enugu state.
Due to that UGWUANYI’S administration believes and have confidence in judicial system that help to promote good governance, that gives justice to the people, that interprets and applies laws to specific cases, that plays roles in law making, that acts as the guidance of the constitution, Governor Ugwuanyi continue to strengthen the judicial system in Enugu state.
For effective and efficiency of the judiciary, Ugwuanyi constructed over fourteen court buildings in the state. He also opened registries in the judicial divisions and magisterial districts across the entire state.
He constructed the state customary court of appeal headquarters in Enugu which remains the first of its kind.
Also, thirty four modern customary courts were constructed under Ugwuanyi’s administration. In each local of the state, two customary courts were built.
Ugwuanyi’s administration also established multi-door court house in Enugu. Ugwuanyi reconstructed the state judiciary headquarters and the former DAD building which is now judiciary building.
Indeed! Ugwuanyi’administration has intervened massively in the state judiciary especially in the provision of judicial facilities necessary for judicial system in the state to aspire.
These he has done, has made the National Judicial Council (NJC) that inspected the facilities in the state to certify Enugu state judiciary as one of the best in the country.
GOVERNOR Ugwuanyi has appointed fifteen JUDGES since his inception as the governor of Enugu state. He appointed them to ease the difficulties experience in speedy dispensation of justice in Enugu state due to lack of JUDGES.
Just last week, Governor Ugwuanyi sworn in Six new JUDGES in the state, to further strengthen the judicial system.
