When a good leader mounts the saddle, sets his hands on the rudders of the state like a seasoned captain, at best his subjects are at peace not only with him but also with themselves. They trudge home unworried bearing in mind that their mandate which the leader wields in trust would not be abused unbridled. It is no doubt such fate is what citizens of Enugu State represent under the unusual leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. A gentle man who have strived within the available state means to ensure that his subjects live above aboard.
Gov. Ugwuanyi’s leadership savvy is just beyond what a pen can aptly capture, more than what a roman Cicero can oratorically produce.
His first term in the Lion building was the proverbial test tube of his managerial dexterity. This came when when the Nigerian nearly unsalvageable economy nosedived in 2015 as the country battled its self-inflited recession. What has kept people floundering up to this day is how Gov. Ugwuanyi managed to navigate his State through hardship and hunger that knocked then. Another, Ugwuanyi never showed laxity in executing countless of community oriented projects. One will find no difficulty in calculating time coverage in traversing the asphalt road from Opi junction to Nsukka town. Same road conditioning were duly executed other places. This feat reached by the amiable Ugwuanyi secured him unopposed and unalloyed from the good people of Enugu State to continue the good work. Ever since then, like the proverbial wise child sent to an errand by the parents and demands no advice but only safe, Gov. Ugwuanyi has not only continued the good works of uplifting the economic and socio-cultural status of the people of Enugu but also has intensified same that he now bagged for himself the most coveted title”MR. PROJECT”.
The construction of ESUT College of Medicine Igboano, is fastidiously ongoing, while the community braces for more.
At the historic Opi junction, the Governor is set to lift its face to the world by erecting a magnificent tower flanked by a fountain spring. The esthetics and tourist value of the proposed tower not only to the particular community where it is situated but also to Enugu State at large is obviously not in dispute. Recall that an International Conference held in UNN, about Christopher Okigbo, the African literary giant, in determining Opi junction the spot where the said poet died during the Biafran War. A handful of the Europeans amidst other literary scholars who attended the conference thereafterwords visited the famous junction for confirmation.
Isi-Uzo roads are now expressways, some are still receiving its final touches. Again, not less than 7 Health centres were upgraded and adequately equipped.
The Agricultural sector appears to be receiving maximum attention more than before.
On the aspect of peace, Enugu has been relatively peaceful since his years in office. Our people now enjoy undisturbed quietude. Issues of cult clashes and killings are now literally a history. Farmers and herdsmen misunderstanding which in some States of the Federation claimed and have continued to claim lifes were promptly attended to and the security network known as the Forest Guards established.
During the END SARS nation wide protest which later denigrated to destruction of properties and massive looting, the peace loving Governor sufficiently employed his professional within managing the heated situation from growing worse.
Ugwuanyi a dedicated Democrat who recognizes the need for opposition in any democratic setting,yet he calls all together as brothers to peer situations objectively and make our Enugu great again. Many in the province of the opposition now earns large from jobs given by the Governor. This has helped rid off detraction for better policies and programs.
Today, there is unceasing calls that the Youths be allowed into corridors of power and maximize their youthful exuberance in rewriting the narrative. Few weeks ago the world lent support to the Ugandan Bobi Wine against his aging opponent. Undisputably, in the matters of Youths, His Excellency, ain’t leading from the rear. He is a youth lover, always considers the well-being of our youths as his. The Nsukka Youths General Assembly (NYGA) are testimony to the Governor’s support to things of the youths. No wonder 70% of Enugu State local governments Chairman are vibrant youths. Students are not also left out. We even have PDP students, an umbrella body of all Enugu State students whose political party is PDP. Things like this were unheard of since years. Ugwuanyi’s youths engagements has impacted in one way or another in the life of Enugu State Youths. He is just the most youths-inclined Governor. But, his unrelenting, never settling for the least and more poised to do the necessary state magics to better the lots of his people. What is required of every man is to give him support and trust as he continues in driver’s sit knowing fully well that he will not skid off .
Enugu State is truly in the hands of God.
