Banking on the recent developments revolving around a rapidly rising political actor in the person of His Excellency Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the executive governor of Enugu State, one would not be misunderstood if he accepts the Senator Chimaroke’s recent description of Ugwuanyi as ” a man of self-fulfilling destiny.” This is foregrounded on the premises emerging from Igbo leaders that paid a courtesy visit to the governor to discuss among other things “… matters of Igbo concern” and dwelling specifically on Ugwuanyi’s”… budget priorities in the areas of digital education, health, infrastructure, security” and other sensitive aspects.
During the public appraisal of Ugwuanyi’s administration, the President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo , Chief Nnia Nwodo lauded the governor for his consistency that led to Enugu State being recognised as one of the six most economically viable states in Nigeria, at the same time sustaining the status of ENUGU State as one of the most peaceful states in the country.
Nwodo who was in the Government House along with the Obi of Onitsha,His Royal Majesty Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe and Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and their entourage could not hide his gratitude that the governor has been able to place Enugu State at such a high pedestal and his amiable disposition in ensuring that political tensions engendered by unhealthy political rivalry and differences is trimmed down to a very minimal level.
Submitting that as Igbo leaders that they are on a routine visit to all the governors of Igbo extraction, Chief Nwodo said that they have met with three governors including Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Engr. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State and promised to meet with the remaining governors in the coming days expressed his satisfaction with what Ugwuanyi has explained to them about the genuine efforts of his administration to deliver on his political promises and make Enugu State, the cynosure of peace and economic viability.
