Delivering good governance to the people who elected their leaders through the ballot is not by any means a rocket science; but a product of conscious and diligent efforts to fulfill the social contract with the people by leadership. In case you are still wondering about my drift, one man who have proved over time that good governance is a virtue which every aspiring leader should inculcate and nurture, is no other person than the Silent Achiever, Governor of Enugu State, His Exellency Rt. Hon Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s developmental strides in all critical sectors can never be over estimated. Let’s pore over some of his significant marks in the socio-political and economic development of the state. Today, public schools in Enugu State especially in the primary and post primary have been declared tuition free courtesy of the Governor who has since prioritized Education as the bedrock of every society’s growth.
It is to his credit that more ultra modern classroom blocks have been built in every community and all the 17 local government of the State and the existing ones in deplorable condition rehabilitated. This was followed by massive recruitment of qualified teachers to teach the teeming pupils and students. To further buttress his investment in education, thousands of prospective jambites in Enugu have had their enrollment fees written off courtesy of our Governor.
In the area of Healthcare delivery, Oji River General Hospital is wearing a new look today via the rehabilitation of the dilapidated infrastructures in the hospital. At Ibeagwa-Aka in Igbo-eze South Local Government Area, the ever working Governor erected a brand new and world standard equiped Health Center for the people of the Area. Other communities in no time would benefit from this service compact which Governor Ugwuanyi is implementing with a passion.
In road construction and rehabilitation, the Governor is at it, constructing, rehabilitating and commissioning hundreds of roads in the rural communities which cut across the 17 local government areas of the State.
He recently constructed and commissioned a new road at Ohodo, Awknawnaw and many others on-going like the one at Enugu-Ezike in Igbo-eze North local government. To the admiration of the former governor of old Anambra State and erstwhile Senator of Enugu East Senatorial District, Chief Jim Nwobodo and other people of the community, This Silent Achiever constructed 14-bay Bailey bridge across Nyama River, linking Umuogo and Umuagba Amechi Uno/Obeagu communities in Enugu South Local Government Area.
The first ever State financed fly-over bridge in Enugu state aimed to decongest humongous traffic snarl experienced at the popular T. Junction, Abakpa-Nike have been awarded also and work ongoing. Governor Ugwuanyi is a proactive leader par excellence.
In the area of Security also, Enugu state is faring better today under the auspices of the sterling investments in the security sector by Governor Ugwuanyi. His many trajectories in this regard is yielding better results than ever. Neighborhood watch, the Forest Guards and the special constabularies are among the far reaching initiatives of the Governor to contain security threats in the state. It is important to mention also that through his dogged spirit to replicate his vision to enthrone enduring security of lives and property in the entire South East region, he in concert with his counterparts in the region recently facilitated the launch of joint Eastern Security aparatichik “EBUBEAGU”.
The White Lion of Enugu State conducts his affairs in a manner that the people of the State have the best of everything humanly possible in the governance of the state.
A short trip to Enugu State, especially the capital city will certify the claims of the Magic of the Governor’s performance. It is not an exaggeration to say that the Peace loving Governor has not only handed over the Devidends of democracy to his people within his six years spell as Governor but has done it with panache and fanfare, giving Glory to God for all he has been able to do.
