Nigeria has been under security challenges since her independence in 1960 ranging from political crisis to ethno-religious crisis. This has affected the peaceful environment and the social intercourse among the various people of the nation state. Nigeria, unarguably the most populous black nation with the largest economy in Africa has been bedeviled for over a decade with serious security challenges emanating from activities of Boko Haram sect in the North-East, Banditry in the North-West who on daily basis kidnap people and school children and commit other atrocities inimical to the security of lives and properties. There has been upsurge in the kidnap for ransom, armed banditry, insurrection and resurgency around the country which have in no small way jointly posed security threats to the lives and properties of people of Nigeria. These have caused serious economic stagnation and truncated the peace among the diverse ethnic and religious groups in the country.
This is even more intense in most states of the federation hitherto regarded as peace haven especially in the South Eastern States today because of poor handling of the various cases which escalated the security issues. Some of Nigerian leaders lack the requisite knowledge in security and peace issues.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has shown overwhelming capacity in securing the lives and properties in Enugu State. Since the recent aggravated security challenges, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi put many strategies in place in his effort to achieve peace and excellent security in the state. People who do not know peace and security keypoints and strategy labelled his style and approaches towards sustainance of peace and security as weakness, because he abhors confrontation and force in restoration and maintenance of peace. His approach during security challenge in Nimbo, Uzo-Uwani local government of the state between the armed herdsmen and the community and other areas with such related issues serves as an example and shows his capacity in sustainance of security and peace in the State. Enugu State under Ugwuanyi is one state that has vibrant community policing outfit which has largely complimented the work of police and other security outfits in taming the activities of crimimals in the state. Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi during the disturbances between the herdsmen and the farmers launched the Forest Guard security network who are saddled with the responsibility of guarding, securing and check mating the activities of herdsmen in our forests and farmlands. Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in his effort to achieving peace and security, involved the traditional rulers of every community of the state in security and made them chief security officers of these communities. Traditional rulers plays pivotal role in the sustainance of peace and security in the society as they are more grassrooted and this has reduced intra/inter communal crisis in the state. Their roles are also pivotal in bringing to stop the clash between the farmers and herdsmen and their peaciful relationship restored.
People and Residents of Enugu State are happy with the peaceful and safe environment created by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and this has engendered robust socio-political and economic activity in the state in no small measure.
Enugu State Is In The Hands Of God.
