A Leader is a product of influence and inspiration to his followers. A good leader is one who takes the bullet on behalf of his or her army of followers. In other words, a good leader should naturally lead from the front and not otherwise. A great leader is a good team leader as well and would inspire his team to reach set goals in a timely manner that engenders confidence in the team.
Unarguably, governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is not a great leader of men and resources, he is an embodiment of courage and inspiration. The massive success recorded under the current Rt honorable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi led administration attests to the fact of his leadership qualities which he possessed and dispenses to the good of Ndi Enugu.
To understand governor Ugwuanyi’s pedigree as a courageous leader, it is important to remember his near death journey when he received an emergency news on the fire outbreak that erupted at the Udenu council area office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) some weeks back. Dr. Ugwuanyi was so moved to the marrow that he forgot his own safety, but decided to spirit the journey in an unholy hour just so that leadership could be brought to bear on the fact of the unfortunate incident. He is as the chief security officer of the state, did not wait to be told by a third party of what did not happen but wanted to have a first hand information of the fact of the incident. It was on record that his eventual timely arrival saved a great deal and the fire was quickly put at bay courtesy of the well motivated fire men and well meaning stakeholders.
Governor Ugwuanyi is a compassionate leader. Not quite a few was waoed by his prompt intervention in an accident which occurred at the Ekulu bridge, Abakpa Nike Enugu some weeks back also where a petrol laden truck lost control and fell into a ditch and consequently went up in flames. Governor Ugwuanyi arrived at the scene of the unfortunate accident and gave hope to all persons affected by the outcome of the fire disaster by his declaration to mitigate some of the losses suffered by the people. He is a leader who walks his talk. Today, every individual affected by that truck accident at the Ekulu Bridge has received a compensatory largeese from the loving governor who wears service as priest to his cloak.
It is also important to underscore the simplicity of the personae holding forth at the Enugu State Lion building. His humility in the service of the people has no immediate comparison. Perhaps, our Lord Jesus Christ must have Ugwuanyi’s ilk in mind, when he admonished His apostles to always strive to serve others if we ever intend to be great leaders. Christ Himself thoroughly condemns those who is always striving to Lord it over the others. Little wonder, governor Ugwuanyi handed over the reigns of his administration to the able hands of God for direction and guidance. Governor Ugwuanyi’s second name should capture his service compact with the people, Ifeanyichukwu. Nothing Pass God indeed. Ifeanyi Nwa Ugwuanyi gaa n’iru. Enugu state is truly behind you. Wherever you go, there we shall come with you. You are truly a leader who leads from the front line.
