Empathy as a virtue. It is trait that could be learned by a conscious effort too. You don’t have to be professionally inclined to be powerfully empathic.
Essentially, empathy is simply in the views of an English dictionary, “an intellectual identification of the thoughts, feelings, or state of another person”. Empathy in synonymous with paranormalability to psychically read another person’s emotions.
It is the ability to detect other people’s emotions and understand their perspectives. Empathy makes one feel recognized, accepted and validated.
Gov.Ugwuanyi is unarguable is a sympathetic leader with stream of emotions running through his veins. No one can ever argue forcefully that he has not made tremendous impacts on the people of Enugu State through his consistent engagement and involvement in their welfare.
It is scripturally instructed, that we should rejoice with the happy ones and at same time, forget not to mourn or condole with mourners. The aforesaid divine instruction, continues to form part of his watchword, through his unreserved concern for personal lives, aptly demonstrated in his unusual character of sympathizing with victim(s) of ugly circumstances and while on a cheerful note, he hadn’t hesitated, to rejoice with celebrants of a yoyful activity in an appreciation of an event. In human development and welfare improvement, he strives more to get all onboard, by actively improving sectors that have direct impact, on the people’s welfare.
One could spend reasonable time ruminating over Gov.Ugwuanyi’s utmost proactiveness and rapid response attitude, to overwhelming situations, even when, ordinarily, such visit, breach his security, itinerary and other exigencies without getting immersed.
The internet domain and other media platforms have been awash or rather deluged with the pictorial and visual uploads of unfortunate incident which happened at Golf Estate, GRA Enugu, implicating a police officer, attached to Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 9, Umuahia, Abia State. According to the report, in what may be tagged “an extrajudicial killing”, the Police Inspector took laws into his hands, by not only shooting in a non-professional and reckless manner, but killed five persons, leaving four persons who sustained injuries of various degrees from the discharged firearm. Shortly after the ugly incident, in the know of the situation, Gov.Ugwuanyi moved to ESUT Teaching Hospital Parklane, Enugu, where the victims are receiving medical treatment.
In the words of Theodore Roosevelt, he opined that “Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care”. The relatives and survivors who were directly affected by the ungodly incident, can bear witness to the magnanimous intervention of Gov.Ugwuanyi, in the situation, most leaders may not feel bordered to attend to. In a high elation, the expectation of the families of the survivors, were saluted with the amazing demonstration of beneficence from Gburugburu, whose arrival not only caused their mourning and regretful faces to beam with smiles and signals of relief, but were relieved by Gov.Ugwuanyi’s expressed readiness to foot their medical bills on behalf of the state government . And while, extending his condolences to the families of the deceased victims, he reiterated his administration’s determination to investigate properly, the circumstances behind the unfortunate occurrence. It is equally instructive that the rapid response attitude of Gov.Ugwuanyi was an elixir which propelled the police authorities to quickly swing into action to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate shooting. .
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has demonstrated overtime that he is a man to be trusted when the issues of welfare of his subjects are threatened. He is always and promptly seen at the scenes of unfortunate mishaps that has potential for taking the joy of the people away and has never failed to support the people to regain their fortunes in whatever way he could. Enugu is truly in safe hands with the leadership of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. To God be the glory forever!
