“Social justice is the relation of balance between individuals and society measured by comparing distribution of wealth differences, from personal liberties to fair privilege opportunities”.
Social Justice could be a measured transformation of the society through equal distribution of wealth, social security network and support to all classes of people and community at large.
In Enugu State, the narrative of social justice has changed over time which reached it’s peak with the emergency and transformative leadership of Governor Ugwuanyi which has ensured that citizens of the State fulfill their constitutional roles and gains what is their due through infrastructural development in all the segments of the State. In the current administration, there is zero left over of local government in terms of capital projects and other Social benefits in the State. The current administration has maintained the lane of delivery of democratic dividend.
In the current administration policy of ensuring grassroots movements and development for social justice, the cardinal point has been on the breaking of barriers for social mobility through construction of flashpoint Rural Road Network in all the local government in the State to ease transportation of goods and services and the recent kick of flyover at T junction Abakpa Nike aimed at reducing traffic jam in the State, the establishment of safety nets through the various youth empowerment scheme executed through the Ministry of Youths and Sports and other support programmes aimed at harnessing various skills and exposing such skill in meeting up with the global trends which has reduced youth restiveness to the barrest minimum in the State; his political peace economy of I am because we are and we are because I am ideology which is a collective personhood refers as Igwebuike in Igbo parlance has advanced human relations in the State and economic justice through the creation of adequate environment for business to thrive and harnessing the resources of the State by embracing digital economy.
However, Social Justice introduced by the current administration has helped the three organs of the State to be functional in their constitutional rights and duties and worked in a coordinated manner which enables people to receive the basic benefits of the current administration. The complimentary manner in which these organs carry out their work without interference has ensure fair distribution of wealth, and equal opportunity among the people.
Governor Ugwuanyi has through social justice brought different ethnic groups together and ensure that they leave peaceful in the State. This is because of his detribalised nature who saw all classes of people as Mmadu. This principle of seeing everyone as the image of God has endeared many admiration from people in and outside the State. His distributive character of oneness made him to execute projects even to the camp of the oppositions of his government because of his character of Akidi _Ama Oke Ala.
Governor Ugwuanyi style of leadership has changed the political narrative of Enugu State from political acrimony to politics of dialogue through social justice. This has maintained peaceful political atmosphere among actors and non actors in the State. He has brought all the political gladiators together in one umbrella which aid his administration in their determined goal of a a better Enugu of our dream. The correct application of the concept has made Enugu the safest state in Nigeria.
In the same vein, it is the right application of the concept that made the current administration to maintain political rotation through zoning even to the grassroots and has been the advocate of it up to date. We have our duties as citizens to bank on the concept of Social Justice as exemplify by the current administration and support the administration in their agenda in ensuring that power returns to Enugu East for equity and Social Justice.
