Shelter is considered one of the life’s basic necessity after food and clothing. A shelter is where one goes to hibernate or rest after the toiling and bustling of the day. Even if one is hungry and have no fabrics to cover the nakedness of the body, a shelter remains the necessary facility to protect him/her from the elements and an added advantage to shield him from the prying eyes and security. The importance of shelter in the lives of men can therefore never be overemphasized.

In most urban centres, houses has become somewhat of a luxury over the years owing to the continued rise in the prices of land for house erection and the cost of building materials. While the privileged few hold sway in the housing industry, citizens who have need to occupy these houses to enable them cope with the elements and carry out their daily activities have had to pay through their noses in rent. There is no gain saying the fact that public servants (especially the junior ones) are the worst hit by the housing crisis in the urban centres owing to their low purchasing power and other economic considerations. It is very pertinent to note that no government policies and programs would be executed with vigour when the majority of the workforce would have to travel from the hinterland family houses to the city where their offices are located. Government businesses have suffered considerably as a result of late coming to offices due to issues arising from inadequacy of housing facilities in the urban areas.

It is in the realization of these economic challenges that the government of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi consolidated on the existing housing programs of his predecessors while massively embarking on new ones to ameliorate the housing problems of citizens in the state.
Today, Enugu state government under Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi have embarked on massive estates construction and layouts to provide affordable houses to the people of ndi Enugu. Estates as HELIU Estate, I Connect Estate, Pasgama Estate, Rangers Estate, Workers Estate, Methodist Estate, Vivian Estate, Onu ogba Estate are just few of the estates started by the government of Ugwuanyi and are under various stages of completion or completed already. It is important also to stress that all these houses are planned on owner occupier bases. This makes it easy for one to own a house in Enugu or the suburb where the estate is located. It is important to note that the estates construction have helped to open up more villages and surburbs to the advantage of the citizenry. Villages like Ugwuaji, Akwuke, Amechi, Ujodo, Nkwubo etc. have been better for it.

All the roads that leads to Enugu have about 10 new estates in it.
When all these estates are completed, housing issues will be solved permanently in Enugu town.

It is equally important to commend the efforts of Hon. Chukwuemelie Agu, the Managing director/Chief executive officer of Enugu state Housing development Corporation( ESHDC) whose doggedness and dedication to duty in line with the objectives of the state government powered by Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Mr. Fulfilment). It will never be an overemphasis to state that Gov. Ugwuanyi courts professionals in all manner of human endeavours and that is why he is succeeding in all fronts and will continue to do so to the glory of God.

We appeal to all Enugu residents to join hand with this government to make housing for all a reality. Truly, Enugu is in the hand of God.

BIBIAN ANEKWE NEWS ADDED “Owning a home is a keystone of wealth… both financial affluence and emotional security.”

“The house you looked at today and wanted to think about until tomorrow may be the same house someone looked at yesterday and will buy today.”

“Real estate cannot be lost or stolen, nor can it be carried away. Purchased with common sense, paid for in full, and managed with reasonable care, it is about the safest investment in the world.”
