Enugu state are made up of hills but the subsoil was covered with coal.
In south east zone, Enugu is one of the state that lack adequate water supply even when they try to dig borehole, many parts of Enugu metropolis has dig over 900 meters fits down but was not pure and saturated water.
Is no longer a news that Enugu state has been facing perennial water challenges, the problem of water supply in Enugu which did not emanate today but was attributed to the topography of the city state which had make it too difficult to access ground water easily. Previous administration have tried so much to bring to an end but seem their effort prove abortive unlike Anambra state which 87% of their lands are covered with water, they can easily access water with 15 to 20 fits they get a good drinking water, which include Abia state, imo state are not left out in States which have sufficient and surplus water
Historically, the issue of water scarcity did not commenced with the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as it started as the state itself, Enugu metropolis has been lacking adequate water supply even as the time of old Eastern region, under old Anambra state.
As part of it measure to curtail the issue of water supply in Enugu metropolis under the administration of Governor Ugwuanyi as he have drastically awarded the contract for total rehabilitation of 9th mile crash programme with solar powered borehole to a company called FORDMAX Big Ltd.
Because of coal in Enugu, the state lack adequate water supply, but some state like river state, Lagos state, Delta state, Cross River state and Beyelsa state are blessed with water to the extend that they have no dry or rainy seasons. In Enugu state, water can be easily access in place call 9th mile that’s why HIS Excellency Mr projects (GBURUS OF AFRICAN) awarded the project to revamped water supply to Enugu metropolis with over #600m that when completed it will bring to an end the lack and scarcity of good water in Enugu.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as man who always feel discontented for any challenges confronting its citizens proceeded further and direct commissioner to recruit over 100 applicant into Enugu state water corporation board, all these effort are to ensure the issue emanated to water scarcity in Enugu metropolis comes to end.
Governor Ugwuanyi is a man who always make judicious when it comes to an issue troubling the state, his massive intervention prior to scarcity of water supply, when completed will stand the test of time and there will be zero irrelevance as it concerned water supply as the past administration have succumb as they see the scarcity of water as inflexible and that have inflict to Enugu citizens.
Governor Ugwuanyi step in, it become inevitably that very soon the story will change, Enugu metropolis will rejoice as water will be flowing all round the corner as administration of Governor Ugwuanyi is committed to provide and bring to an end the scarcity of water supply in Enugu metropolis.
