Since the return of Democracy in 1999, Enugu State have been blessed with great leaders who have worked assiduously to return the coal city state to the comity of states with lots of positive energies. Interestingly, successive governments in the state have ensured good governance mode and perhaps an exception seems to be the trend in Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s led administration. Steadily and consciously, governor Ugwuanyi is taking governance mode to unimaginable level in comparison to his predecessors.
Gburugburu has become an attitude rather than a sobriquet. The word “GBURU-GBURU” is a true reflection of an all rounder who have visited all critical sectors of the state socio-political and economic development. Much more is still in the works. There is no dull moment yet for his Excellency, the governor.
Recently, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi led administration through the State Scholarship and Education Loans Board(ESSELB), in partnership with Oxford University (African Society) unveiled the Coal City Fellowship. This is an innovative platform aimed at harnessing the intellectual potentials of the young people from Enugu state.
The Secretary to the Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board, Mr. Uche Abonyi revealed that the programme was one of the best means Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is adding value to the quality of education in the state. He disclosed that the programme is exclusively student’s fellowship initiative that will absorb and work with the most driven young minds from the south East region of Nigeria, providing them with information, mentorship and financial support to take their careers to a better level. This is another great way Mr. FULFILMENT, the governor is working to reducing idleness amongst the Youths.
Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi led administration is also partnering with the World Bank to set up a Cashew Processing centre. A multi million Naira has been set aside for this huge project for an Aggregation Centre in Orba, Udenu Local Government Area of the state. Cashew processing is one lucrative business successive governments have overlooked over the years which has a potential for provision of humongous resources to the state’s economic growth. Udenu is a community where farmers grow Cashew in massive quantities, the governor insightfully picked the area for such project thereby creating more employment opportunities and helping farmers to increase their productivity.
The administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi continues to invest heavily on policies that enhances socio-economic transformation with the sole view of improving the qualities of lives of people in the State.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi understands and lives peace and is determined to entrench an enduring peace legacies for Ndi Enugu. Wherever there is peace, there is development. Peace has embraced development courtesy of Ugwuanyi’s uncommon strides in leadership. And as they say, “a work for one, is a work for all” … Enugu remains firmly in the hands of God.
