In spite of the fact that many state governments in Nigeria have sustained their partial lockdown, by regulating commercial and educational activities and restricting vehicular movement in response to the pervasive Covid 19 pandemic, the government of ENUGU State led by His Excellency, Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi having carefully weighed the the debilitating effects of the lockdown especially on the traders and Keke riders have recently taken a step to alleviate their plight by extending their times of operation respectively.
The Keke Riders who were formally restricted from riding beyond 7:pm have been granted the opportunity to ride their tricycles till 9:pm while the marketers and artisans that were formally not allowed to do their business beyond 4:pm can now operate between 8:am and 6:pm. Also, the owners of bars and restaurants were not left out as they have been granted the chance of doing their legitimate business till 7:pm daily. Such timely step was considered worthy by the government surely to assist those affected make the ends meet .However, while the government is gradually relieving the lockdown restrictions, the people are strictly advised to continue to religiously adhere to the preventive measures established by the NCDC for an effective control of the Covid 19 pandemic.
All things being equal, it is not out of place to recognise and appreciate that Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is earnestly feeling the heartbeat of Enugu people and does not need to be reminded before he responds to their yearnings but at the right time he will inevitably receive rewards for such exhibition of care and deep concern for his people.
ENUGU STATE IS IN THE HANDS OF GOD.
