The above Latin maxim or principles associated with Cicero’s De Legibus presupposes that the health (welfare, good, salvation, felicity) of the people should be the supreme law. Perhaps, the highly rated principles unarguably has defined the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi since assuming office as the CEO of Enugu state in 2015. Developed nations of the world owe their developmental trajectories to this same principles. Good governance has therefore become second to none to achieve quality development of any society.
Good governance is usually predicated on a symmetrical approach. While the government do what it aught to do to uplift the people, the citizens equally reciprocates by performing their constitutional obligations to the government.
Governor Ugwuanyi has initiated and implemented friendly policies which has encouraged the citizens to participate both in economic and political activities freely within the confines of the state‘s policies. He has ensured smooth operation of economic and political
activities which ensured social order in the state.
His good governance approach has stimulated an operational rule of law, enforcement of social contracts and
agreement between the citizens and the government. As a prudent manager of resources, he maintains an optimal size of government agencies to deliver on the millennium development goals.
It is important to enunciate some of the far reaching effects of good governance policy of Governor Ugwuanyi as follows:
– Political transparency and accountability.
– Participation by various social, economic, cultural and professional groups, in the governance processes.
– Freedom of information.
– provision of basic amenities.
– good security networks.
-rural developmental strides.
-youth empowerment and development.
– general peace in the state, etc.
Finally on this note, 2023 is just by the corner, I’d like to enjoin good people of Enugu state to come together and support our governor to bring out a candidate from Enugu East senatorial zone , to take over the mantle of leadership. I’m certain that whoever gets the blessings of Governor Ugwuanyi will be accepted by the generality of the people of Enugu state. That way, the legacies of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi will not be trampled upon. So help us God.
