He who finds a good wife, findenth a treasure… So says the Good Book. When the lists of good and virtuous women are mentioned, the name of Mrs. Monica Ugochi Ugwuanyi would feature prominently. A virtuous woman is one who like the Biblical Ruth would infer that her husband people are her people also and where her husband goes, there she would go also. A good wife is one who believes in her husband’s aspirations, visions and dreams. A good wife trusts her husband’s visions completely and would always work in the background to nudge and support him. And where there are observable gaps, she swiftly fits in to complement her husband efforts. The above analogy amply reflects the life of the first lady of Enugu State, Mrs. Monica Ugochi Ugwuanyi.
Mrs Monica Ugochi I Ugwuanyi, no doubt has been good wife and a mother and above all, the inspirer in-chief of his Excellency, the governor of Enugu state, Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi. It must be noted that her Excellency is a true champion who works behind the scene to ensure that the many positive policies of her husband’s led administration is cooked tastefully to the delight of the entire citizens of Ndi Enugu. A virtuous woman will no doubt sit back to watch things go awry in her household. She will throw everything in her arsenal to ensure that her home is neatly kept and all visitors well taken care of irrespective of political and clannish inclinations. Enugu state has had this rare gift of a woman, who do not just sit behind but also work in the open to complement the good governance policies of her husband’s administration. She understands that as a stakeholder herself, a fall for the government of Enugu State is also a fall for her and the entire people who look up to her.
Since the emergence of his Excellency Lawrence Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi as the helmsman of Enugu state, Mrs. Monica Ugochi Ugwuanyi Oso Di Eme the first lady, has enamored not quite a few with her complementary roles in the governance of Enugu State. As a woman filled with wisdom and love for her people, Mrs. Ugwuanyi knew that her place as the first lady comes with a lot of responsibilities. She took her roles as the first lady very seriously, projecting and complementing her governor husband so that the good people of Enugu State, gets the best of what they deserve.

¶ CHILDREN’S WELFARE: As a good mother, she understands the place of children in the society and their potential for ruling their future. She has therefore taken advocacy for children’s total well-being as a priority.
¶ ADVOCACY AGAINST GENDER BASED VIOLENCE: Her Excellency Monica Ugochi Ugwuanyi have further taken the campaign against maltreatment of the girl and boy child and women very seriously. As an advocate of equal right irrespective of gender, Mrs Ugwuanyi is pushing the frontiers of welfare for all categories of persons just like her husband has envisioned. She also believes that the girl child in particular should not suffer the stereotype of child bearers, hewers of wood and drawers of water but should enjoy equal educational privileges like their male counterparts.
¶ ADVOCATE OF GOOD FAMILY VALUES : Only the one who have cooked and tasted good soup will be in a good stead to talk about soup cooking. Mrs. Ugwuanyi who understands family values by virtue of her own experiences have never failed to convene summit and conferences for women where she takes it as a matter of priority to sermonize on the need for women to take care of the home front while supporting their husband and their children in a manner that engenders love, peace and stability of the home.
¶ GOOD GOVERNANCE ADVOCATE: Mrs. Ugwuanyi has been in the vanguard of supporting her husband’s good governance initiatives. To walk her talk, she floated a pet project known as UGO TOUCH OF LIFE FOUNDATION. This foundation is designed at Helping the vulnerable and the poor in our society.
