Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has kicked against calls for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking to newsmen after the inauguration of the recently elected PDP chairmen in 27 local government areas (LGAs) of his state, Lamido said calls for Buhari’s impeachment would not receive his support.

The former governor said the calls were rather a vindication of his long-held view of the president’s capacity.

While insisting that he had nothing personal against Buhari, Lamido said his criticisms were based on his political background of speaking the truth to those in power.

Meanwhile, Naija News reports that the leadership of the House of Representatives has threatened to take disciplinary action against Kingsley Chinda, the lawmaker who is spearheading the impeachment process of President Buhari.

This development was made known by House Leader, Hon. Ado Doguwa who noted that Chinda is acting in a personal capacity as his calls do not represent the views of the House, his constituency, or his party.

Chinda, who represents Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in Rivers State is the factional leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, caucus in the House of Reps.

Doguwa, during plenary on Monday alleged that Hon. Chinda is acting alone, adding that the calls by the lawmaker suggest plans to embarrass President Buhari if he had honoured the invitation of the lawmakers to address them on issues of insecurity in the nation.
