Enugu State is a blessed one. Nothing can be farther from the truth that God has been generous with a state so endowed with human and material resources. At different points in time, leaders have arisen and have given very good account of themselves. Perhaps, the present occupant of the Lion Building since 2015 have continued to prove many critics wrong and have elevated governance to such an alluring level with his deftness and ingenuity.
Mr. Fulfilment has proven beyond reasonable doubt, that his love for Enugu state and her people is not only genuine but flows from the heart. Governor Ugwuanyi unarguably remained outstanding in his governance approach amongst his fellow governors in Nigeria. His performance has endeared him to both the people of Enugu and other Nigerians.
It is therefore important to mention some of his many achievements in all sectors since he came into power.
1. Security: His Excellency, the Governor has made the issues of security of lives and property in Enugu state a cardinal point of state policy. Today, Enugu state is regarded as the most peaceful state in Nigeria to live in. Recently, the state Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps alluded to this much when he paid a courtesy call on the Governor at the government House. He observed and rightly too that there has been a steady influx of people into Enugu due to its peaceful environment. Enugu has therefore become an investment destination of sort East of the Niger.
Governor Ugwuanyi has continued to render necessary support to relevant stakeholders in the security circle and have seen to the establishment of a robust neighborhood watch, forest guards, etc. Recently, the governor keyed into the community policing initiatives of Nigerian police and the new set of special police constabulary was commissioned to boost the security architecture of the state.
2. Job Creation: HIS EXCELLENCY LAWRENCE IFEANYI UGWUANYI has been able to create job opportunities both directly and indirectly. Currently indigenes of Enugu are being recruited into various working parastatals, such as the primary school feeding program,the motorist control agencies V.I.O and M.O.T, the keep Enugu Clean team and lots more.
3.Infrastructural Development: Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has remained unarguably an unsung hero in infrastructural development especially in the rural areas. His policy of one ward one project has been pursued with utmost vigour to the admiration of even the most ardent critics of the government.
4. By establishing an Economic friendly environment, His Excellency, Governor Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has set the pace for business to thrive in Enugu state.
5 Gburu-Gburu remains a rare specie politician who plays a brand of politics unequalled in modern combustible socio-political environment. He plays politics without bitterness. A virtue that has endeared him to his political opponents. Although no society exists without conflicts, but his sagacity has ensured that all ensuing conflicts do not result to a crisis situation. Today communal conflicts is either non existent or the ones started has been able to be doused to an appreciable level.
6. Despite Ugwuanyi’s rising profile as a consummate politician, he has remained humble and simple, an uncommon virtue with modern day politicians.
7. Payment of salaries : His Excellency Honourable Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has been consistently paying civil servant their salaries even before the end of the month, a rare occurrence anywhere in Nigeria even among the states receiving highly from the federation account.
Enugu State is truly blessed. Many thanks to our governor. May God continue to grant him sufficient wisdom to steer the ship of state. It is well with Enugu state. Truly Enugu state is in the hands of God.
