Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala-Buni has opined that it is a good development that Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists are laying down their arms and surrendering to government troops.
He said Nigerians should be optimistic that the insurgents are renouncing terrorism and surrendering to the Nigeria Army in Borno State and other areas.

Bibian Anekwe News recalls many of the terrorists alongside their family members have recently been submitting themselves to the government troops and asking for forgiveness.

The Governor in a statement on Thursday, signed by his DG, Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed observed that what Nigerians should do is to hope like him that the repentance is real.

“We should all pray that the repentance is for real and is the beginning of the end of insurgency in Nigeria” he prayed.

The Governor also used the opportunity to commend the Nigerian Army and other security organizations for repelling the attempted terrorist attack on Babbangida town, the headquarters of Tarmuwa local government council on Wednesday.

He noted that the security forces showed great bravely and awareness in forcing the insurgents back into the bush and prevent what might have been another deadly attack on innocent residents.

The insurgents were on a looting spree of the community before the troops arrived and gave them a hot chase, Bibian Anekwe News learnt.

Buni further assured that his administration will continue to provide all necessary support for the security agencies in carrying out their duties.

“We are proud of our gallant troops who have shown great patriotism and superior firepower to deal with the terrorists.

“Your resilience, bravery, and gallantry made us all proud, the government and people of Yobe state, and Nigerians in general will continue to be with you” he assured.
