The Enugu State Chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS wishes to express grateful sentiments towards the Enugu State government for her continued commitment to the protection of Enugu lives within and outside the state. By this expression, we convey a weight of gratitude inspired by Governor Ugwuanyi’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of Enugu State students.

It is deserving of commendation that in response to the breakout of crisis in the city of Jos, Plateau state, leading to the immediate shutdown of the University of Jos, the Enugu State government had swiftly and successfully evacuated all Enugu State indigenes studying in the crisis ridden institution.

The Apex students organization has reliably confirmed that a total of 135 Enugu Indigenes were evacuated from the school, while 37 returned to Enugu, 28 were conveyed to Abuja on their request and the remaining students were safely conveyed to their homes within plateau and it’s environs. The Students were recieved at Enugu yesterday by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Students affairs Hon. Ilogebe Chidi, on behalf of the State government.

What the Enugu State Government has done is an examplary demonstration of people oriented leadership and we urge other state government to ride at this pace by reaching out to their students in the crisis ridden Jos.

The National Association of Nigerian students as veritable partners of state building reaffirms her resolve to continue to lend voice and support to the administration of Gov. Ugwuanyi because of the premium his administration has placed on Education and students welfare.

Cmr.Romanus Ogene.
NANS Chairman, Enugu State.
