Kaduna State Govt Shuts Down 13 Sports Betting Offices (See Why)

The Government of Kaduna State through the State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) has shut down the offices of 13 sports betting and gaming sites.

This was disclosed by Mr. Liye Anthony, Head of Gaming in the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) in an interview on Sunday with NAN.

According to him, five offices of bet9ja and King Bet respectively, two Access Bet offices, and one office of Derby Lotto have been shut down in the operation which began on Thursday for operating illegally without due registration and license.

He added that the agency has identified about 1,500 gaming offices across the state operating illegally without due registration and license and the exercise will continue until all the illegal gaming offices are shut down.

“We will continue to go after them until all the operators of the gaming companies regularized their operations and obtain the needed license to operate in the state,” he said.

The Executive Chairman of the agency, Dr. Zaid Abubakar, also told newsmen that about N2.0 billion unpaid taxes and levies was been lost on a monthly basis to the gaming companies operating illegally in the state and urged all affected outfits to regularize their businesses.
