There is an old Bristish adage which says that Rivers don’t drink from their water, and Trees don’t eat from its fruits as well. This is a notion the Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi did not JUST understand clearly, but also practices in his everyday life. Since Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi took over the administration of Enugu state, he has been running an Igwebuike-like administration; an inclusive governance. Governor Ugwuanyi had always treated everyone alike and on equal measure irrespective of party or clannish bent. Little wonder he chose an opposite sex for a Deputy, to express his support for Gender equality. He is always ready to listen to his people and always ready to do what is best for the good of ndi Enugu.
When it comes to security, the amiable leader stands tall like a colossus; because he understands that Security of life and properties is of utmost importance. The creation and formation of FOREST GUARDS and recruitment of over 1700 persons into the system speaks volume. This move did not just curb the menace of insecurity in the state but reduced the rate of unemployment, thus created job for over 1700 youths in the state. *Security Agencies in the state are more than equipped and empowered with every security arsenal needed to execute their jobs. Now all the security personnel in the country wants to work in Enugu, where there is peace and 89 percent crime free.
Bearing in mind that without Education there is no future for the upcoming generation, and tomorrow belongs to those who prepares for it today; the Humble White Lion, through the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ESUBEB), have built and renovated 1,034 schools across the state. These newly constructed and renovated schools was not just left with blocks and zincs, but were equipped with over 49, 000 chairs and tables, installed with Computers, Solar energies, as well as thousands of other learning materials. This is to enable the students to study at ease, because when you have the right working tools, the work gets more easier.
The most amazing fact about Gburugburu is that he never seized to invest in human capital development, which remains the core index to measure development. He organizes training and retraining of Civil servants in the state on yearly basis; which helps them in the discharge of their duties diligently and in tune with contemporary trends. I think the teachers in the state are the most beneficiaries of this cause as they always have something fresh from their kitchen to dish out to students.
The workaholic governor, recently embarked on the construction of Modern Flyover at T-Junction Nike Enugu. This flyover will sure give the city a new face and helps reduce the traffic congestion in the area. Gburu-Gburu remains the master when it comes to project. No wonder most people refer to him as Mr. PROJECT, while others call him MR. FULFILMENT.
The government of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi since inception in the office, have been actively promoting tourism and attracting investors to the state by making Enugu one of the safest and cleanest capital cities in the country. Not like the state is receiving a huge allocation from the Federal Government like the oil producing States, but the governor strategically initiated ideas that is yielding financial gains to the state coffers. This is why Enugu state was sometimes in 2018 ranked higher on Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) by the Bureau of Statistics.
Road construction is another hobby for the Governor as he had constructed almost all the major roads in the urban and extended to the rural areas. Before he came to power, some agricultural production areas like Awgu, Oduma and Amagunze had no better road network to convey their farm produce to the outside market. Today these areas are still singing Litanies of praise to the workaholic governor.
The people of Enugu state remain thankful to God for giving us Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and we pledge a total support and loyalty to his government.
