News broke yesterday that the performing governor of Enugu state, Rt. Honourable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi have secured the approval of the relevant federal agencies to construct an epic tower and a model round about at a popular Opi Junction in Nsukka zone of the state. According to the release by the media team lead, Mr. Louis Amoke…
“Determined by his vision to include Nsukka in the world map of history with a landmark edifice, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, on Tuesday, inspected the site for the construction of an iconic roundabout and tower, located at the popular Opi Junction, about 12km from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) Campus”, the release read in part.

It is however important to mention here that infrastructural development across the entire Enugu State remains the vision and mission of Governor Ugwuanyi who have rightly earned the appellation of Mr. Fulfilment. By envisioning and pursuing a policy of one ward, one project across the state, governor Ugwuanyi is sure to touch different zones and quarters with valuable infrastructural facilities before he signs off in 2023.

Perhaps, what is important with citing the iconic structure at the Opi Junction could not be unrelated with the strategic position held by the area as a major gateway stretching back to Obollo Afor to Enugu state and playing host to millions of travellers and visitors from the northern part of Nigeria.

Another important factor to consider is the tenacity and sagacity with which the governor has pursued and has continued to pursue his vision amidst dwindling and lean financial resources available to the state. Making every ward, local government and region count in the distribution of infrastructural facilities has continued to endear the amiable governor to the people. Governor Ugwuanyi have shown uncommon humility and candour in the dispensation of good governance and has no doubt ensured that the good people of Ndi Enugu got immeasurable value from the one man they elected to govern them 6 years ago.

Working assiduously to secure the approval of two important federal agencies – Federal Ministry of Works and Housing and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) as well as the approval of all the relevant stakeholders especially the owners of the land where the project would be sited before the actual commencement of the project which was captured in the 2021 budget easily gives the governor away as a man of uncommon humility committed to ensuring adequate buy in of all stakeholders in the execution of government policies and programs. While thanking profusely in his characteristic cheerful manner these relevant stakeholders for their support, Governor Ugwuanyi used the opportunity of the inspection of the proposed project site to reiterate his resolve to serve Enugu State with the fear of God while pledging to continue to deliver on his promises to the people in spite of various challenges confronting the nation.

To conclude, in the words of a motivational teacher, Roland Onamusi “LEADERSHIP IS ACTION AND NOT TITLES! Being a servant is a phase of great leadership ahead! The Boss has the title, while the people follow the leader! Leaders instill in their people a hope for success and a belief in themselves. Positive leaders empower people to accomplish their goals. Leaders have a vision that keeps them going through difficult times.

Gburu-Gburu of Enugu state embodied these attributes and more. May God provide Enugu state with a better version of Mr. Fulfilment come 2023 so that our state will continue to be in His firm hands, Amen…
