The Kano state police command has apprehended a suspected fraudster who sent tattered mosquito nets and rags in place of N100,000 worth of textiles.
The suspect identified as Aliyu Hussaini allegedly sent the tattered products after the customer ordered 14 textile materials worth N100,000 online.
DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, spokesperson of the kano state command revealed in a statement on Monday that that suspect is a serial fraudster with about 37 complaints lodged against him.
He said: “On the 09/11/2021 at about 0900hrs, a report was received from a woman, ‘f’, of Yelwa Shandam, Plateau State, that one Facebook user with account name “Aliyu Hussaini Salisu”, ‘m’, displayed Textile materials such Lace, “Shadda”, etc and advertise in his Facebook page for sale,” the PPRO stated.
“She ordered for fourteen (14) different textile materials at One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000:00) and sent the money through Unguwa Uku Motor Park Kano. But, instead of sending the materials, he packaged rag and tattered Mosquito Nets and sent to her
“Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi, raised and instructed a team of detectives led by DSP Mutari Jibrin Dawanau to arrest the culprit.
“The team immediately swung into action and arrested the suspect, one Aliyu Hussaini, ‘m’, 25 years old, of Hotoro Quarters Kano, at Unguwa Uku Motor Park, Kano.”
Hussaini was caught with a laptop and phone trying to defraud another client. He revealed during his interrogation that he uses Facebook and Whatsapp to advertise textile materials also stating that after payment he would block his customer’s account and phone number or send rags to them.
