“But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint”
Isaiah 40:31(New Living Translation). The above quotation from the eternal Good Book perhaps describes the feelings of the people of Amufie autonomous community and other surrounding communities in the Igbo-Eze North Council Area of Enugu state as Mr. Fulfilment in pursuant of his vision to make all corners of the state taste the dividends of democracy as never before.
It is a statement of fact that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state have never left anyone in doubt of his preparedness and vision to leave his marks in the sand print of time since coming into power as the helmsman of the most popular Igbo state in Nigeria. Enugu state remains unarguably the capital of the Igbo nation with rich human capital and mineral deposits that have boosted the economy of Nigeria and till date has continued to contribute to her annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Sadly, many rural communities have suffered extensive neglect from successive governments dating back to when the new Enugu state was carved out from the old Anambra state in August 27, 1991.
Rt. Honourable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi realising early that government exists to serve the people and not the other way round initiated and pursued the policy of one ward, one project and have made it a cardinal point of state policy ever since. Perhaps, he might just hit the bulls eyes by covering all the wards in Enugu state before the end of his tenure in 2023. Governor Ugwuanyi I’m certain have often reminded himself that government is about service and nothing short of it to the people. He will forever remind himself of the these words garbed in rich philosophy…
“I shall pass this way but once; any good, therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again”.
It was therefore the turn of Amufie autonomous community in Igbo-Eze Council Area to taste the service oriented leadership of Governor Ugwuanyi as the construction of Amufie – Ugbaike – Inyi rural access road which seeks to link the aforementioned communities to Abuja through Obollo Afor – Makurdi Express way have commenced.
The truism that when the righteous is in Power, the people rejoice can never be truer than in the words of Pharm. Ernest Odo and Mr. Chinedu Adonu, Chairman and Financial Secretary respectively for a social group known as Ishi-Obere Brothers Club in the affected autonomous community… “Governor Ugwuanyi has shown commitment and determination to construct rural roads across various communities in Enugu state. He has left no stone unturned in giving both financial and political support to ensure construction of rural roads” . Pharm. Odo lamented the long neglect of his rural community and others as well by past governments until the government of Gburu-Gburu decided to intervene.
Pharm. Odo stated the obvious when he noted that rural access roads are veritable catalyst to economic growth and accelerated rural development. What can we say, but continue to pray that God protect and uphold Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to remain focused in his vision and mission for the people of Enugu state.
May the coal city state remain firmly in the hands of God – Isee!
