Nigerians in the United States have picked Ankara clothes for the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and his Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris.
In a viral video on Monday, two Nigerian men were seen talking about wearing the clothes to the swearing-in of Biden and Haris on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
Biden and Harris’s names were imprinted on the Aso Ebi showed off by two Nigerian men. The attire also had their pictures and a caption, ‘victory party’.
One of the joyous Nigerians said, “So, Aso Ebi is ready now. Can you see this? It is ready. I am taking mine to the tailor for the inauguration.”
Another Nigerian, who spoke in Yoruba, said, “We will rock this. We will sweep away all those with negative mindsets out of the white house.”
Source reports that the inauguration of Biden as the 46th President of the United States at noon on Wednesday will mark the commencement of his four-year term as president and Harris as vice president.
The inaugural ceremony will take place on the West Front of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., and will be the 59th presidential inauguration.
Biden will take the oath of office as president, and Harris will take the oath of office as vice president.
The inauguration will take place amidst extraordinary political, public health, economic, and national security crises, including outgoing President Donald Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 United States presidential election.
He also incited a storming of the Capitol, Trump’s unprecedented second impeachment, and a threat of widespread civil unrest, which stimulated a nationwide law enforcement response.
The live audience will be limited to members of the 117th United States Congress and, for each, one guest of their choosing, resembling a State of the Union address.
Public health measures such as mandatory face coverings, testing, temperature checks, and social distancing will be used to protect participants in the ceremony
