Popular Nollywood star and politician, Yul Edochie has described the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu as a misunderstood hero.
Edochie who took to his Instagram account to heap praises on the Biafra agitator submitted that Kanu only wants what is good for Africa and wants the continent to be peaceful.
He added however that his intentions have been greatly misunderstood.
Edochie wrote on his Instagram account on Friday: “Today is not his birthday, but I choose to celebrate this great man today. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, a Hero who is grossly misunderstood.
“But all he truly wants is for Africans to wake up and take serious decisions that will bring lasting peace in Africa. Live long great man. May Chukwu Okike Abiama be with you always.”
Nnamdi Kanu is a political activist and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). He and his team are demanding the Nigerian government allows a referendum for the creation of an independent Biafra republic.
Meanwhile, the presidency on Friday alleged that some people have perfected plans to launch smear campaigns against the person and administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The presidency in a statement signed by the president’s special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina said some media outlets have been paid off to promote the smear campaign.
He added that the plan is to cause tension in Nigeria by portraying the president as someone who promotes ethnicity and nepotism.
He however argued that this is contrary to Buhari’s promise to belong to all Nigerians.
