Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has announced the indefinite suspension of activities of the National union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Ondo State.
the suspension was announced on Tuesday newsmen by the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The Ondo State governor also ordered members of the union to vacate Motor parks in the state immediately.
Akeredolu said an investigation will be conducted and all the perpetrators of the crisis will be brought to book.
The suspension of NURTW activities is following the clash between factions of the commercial drivers union.
Recall that the state government last Monday suspended the activities of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria and NURTW.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in a statement released through his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Doyin Odebowale, said the suspension was to allow both unions to meet and settle their differences to prevent violent clashes between them.
The Ondo State Governor also blamed the clash on greed, as the money sharing formula between the two transport unions.
According to him, the ticket printed by the Ondo State Internal Revenue Services would be sold to commercial drivers for the sum of N300.
He warned that anybody caught selling any other ticket would be arrested and prosecuted.
