No one can actually understand the pangs of child birth if such person has never given birth. In other words, it is only those exceptional women who went through a gestation period of nine months just so that a life could berth on the surface of the earth can claim understanding of what it feels to have a baby. Similarly, it is only a person who have lost a loved one or gone under a knife in a theater can truly understand what it feels to be in such condition. No one understands or imagines better a situation than the victim or the real actor.

Perhaps, this analogy became necessary to properly situate our penchant for mouthing rhetoric when we neither have experienced a situation in a real life nor come close to such, save for empathy. I may not be wrong therefore if I posit that his Excellency, the governor of Enugu state has never left anyone in doubt about his sincerity and motive for egalitarianism given his antecedents in the public administration since his foray into political leadership. Enugu State in particular have been privileged to encounter him display such innate qualities in the manner he had distributed socio-economic and political capital to the entire state. Today, no community across the state can boldly or justly castigate him for negligence in terms of one government mark or another in their domain.

As stated earlier, because Rt. Honorable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi bore the mark of justice, equity, government inclusiveness and fairness as would oil on a fatty material, he has remained vocal with such platitudes at every fora to drive home his cherished ideals. Let it be sounded on the beautiful valleys of Udi siding, Milliken hills, the screnic Mambilla Plateau or the covercious Aso Rock Villa in Abuja that Ugwuanyi stood and is still standing for equal and just society where every human irrespective of Religious, Ethnic or Political inclinations are free to cohabit and enjoy God’s given resources in equal measures without someone somewhere dictating the ways and systems such resources should be dispensed. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi stands tall among his contemporaries without waver to preach the gospel of equal justice and fairness to all in the Nigerian polity which he believes to be a panacea to many of the turbulent crisis bedeviling our society.

Governor Ugwuanyi seem to be in sync with the thoughts expressed by an American economic historian and a Political theorist, Murray Newton Rothbard who declared that Human life is not truly some sort of race or game in which each person starts from an identical mark. Rather it reflects an attempt by each man to be as happy as possible. Everyone should not necessarily begin from the same point, because the world has not just come into being… it is diverse and infinitely varied in its parts. The mere fact that one individual is necessarily born in a different place from someone else immediately insures that his inherited opportunity cannot be the same as his neighbor’s.

This philosophy has often defined Ugwuanyi’s life both as an individual and a political leader. It is therefore important to underscore this philosophy which Gov. Ugwuanyi have repeatedly re-echoed. At the opening ceremony on the two-day Zonal Public Hearing of the House of Representatives Committee on Constitution Review for Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi states currently holding in the capital city of Enugu, the governor reiterated his administration’s “unequivocal and unwavering commitment to an egalitarian Nigeria where justice, fairness, equity and inclusiveness shall be functional directive principles of state policy”.

He declared support for the Nation’s constitutional amendments, while noting that such will engender national unity and prosperity and in an environment where justice, fairness and equity shall prevail.

As a firm believer in the philosophy of social equality and fairness, the white Lion in the Lion Building enjoined

all relevant institutions, civil society organizations, stakeholders and the entire Enugu State citizenry to stand up and be counted in the ongoing conversation.

It is also important to understand why the members of the nation’s Green Chambers of the National Assembly chose Enugu State as their preferred point of sitting for the public hearing on the constitution review. Enugu state still presents a perfect serene environment where Peace, Equity, Fairness and Justice have dwelt since the reign of Ugwuanyi led administration.

God rules in the affairs of men. Enugu state is in the hands of God.
