Following the recent assassination of professor Samuel Ndubisi, the Director General of Science Equipment Development Institute (SEDI) Enugu on Wednesday evening along Enugu/PH express road alongside renewed upsurge in acts of armed robbery and hooliganism in the metropolis, the proactive leader of Enugu State is obviously worried and determined to stem the tide. Governor Ugwuanyi is worried that a state he had worked tirelessly thus far to reposition as an investment destination for all via his good governance policies is suddenly gaining a negative reputation due to the influence of the bad elements in the society.
Determined to wrestle this unwholesome security challenge in Enugu State, Governor Ugwuanyi took time out with all the top Security Chiefs in Enugu to fashion out alternative models to arrest the situation as it were. Good followers of his Excellency, will almost pinpoint where he stands on all issues of paramount importance to the people. That Enugu state is largely stable today security wise is attributable to the conscious efforts of the Governor to lead a state where Peace, political harmony and justice is reigning Supreme. Let’s give it to this passionate leader of the people. He has done so well here. From the establishment and empowerment of the local vigilantes, Forest Guards, Special Police Constabularies, Ugwuanyi has done better to make Enugu State habitable for everyone irrespective of clan, religion or political bent.
Governor Ugwuanyi who was visibly worried at the turn of events and while visiting the scene of the dastardly act in his characteristics manner expressed grievous displeasure at such atrocious murder of an innocent gentleman Prof. Ndubuisi and prayed God to receive his gentle soul in His heavenly abode. Governor Ugwuanyi reiterated his administration’s resolve to stamp out violent crimes and related vices in Enugu State. This is heart warming coming from a trusted leader who has before now received several applause and commendations from the wide spectrum of individuals and groups for being in the front line to secure lives and properties of the people. Ironically, mischief makers are already around town insinuating weakness on the part of Ugwuanyi’s leadership to stem the tide of the recent upsurge in insecurity of lives and properties. It must be stressed here also that security is everyone’s business and no single individual or government howbeit ingenious can absolutely stamp out crime in the society. Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi have truly shown uncommon courage in the past and still determined to bequeath to Ndi Enugu, a state devoid of insecurity and other social vices that has bent to truncate the socio-political and economic growth he has worked so hard to establish.
Let’s hope that at the end of the day, his meeting with the top Security Chiefs working in Enugu would yield required results capable of putting Enugu back to it’s tranquil state and devoid of violent crimes in any shade.
At the end of the day, we all will continue to affirm that Enugu state is in the hands of God.
