Afro singer, Seun Kuti has implored religious leaders and their followers to stop praying for Nigeria.
Bibian Anekwe News reports that the instrumentalist took to his Instagram page to address Pastors and Imams, charging them to start telling their congregants to fight for the country instead of offering prayers.
Indirectly referencing a recent occurrence where the founder of the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), Bishop David Oyedepo sacked some pastors of his church for underperforming, Kuti said clergies who failed in their work weren’t prayed for, hence no need for more prayers for Nigeria.
He also mentioned in the social media post that girls who accused Pastors of raping them weren’t prayed for, including men who accused Pastors of sleeping with their wives.
Kuti reiterated that Nigerians should fight for the country and keep religion aside.
“Dear Priests/Imams, Stop saying pray for Nigeria and start telling the people to FIGHT FOR NIGERIA.
Kuti added in his caption; “Switch up the sermon! I mean when some Pastors in some churches weren’t performing, we didn’t pray for them, we sacked them ( fought) from office. When some girls say some pastors raped them we didn’t pray for them na. When onsaysan say one pastor knack hi wife, the pastor no pray for every everyday pray for Nigeria, pray for your leaders. FIGHT FOR NIGERIA!!.
Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Sunday led a group of pastors in prayers for peace and unity in Nigeria.
Osinbajo championed the prayer sessions during the dedication of two churches in Abuja, Bibian Anekwe News reports.
