It has become a code, almost like a norm to have political support groups sprung up every now and then especially during the run of every general election. Every election season can be equated to a season of anomie where individuals and groups struggling to outshine one another like in a contest in order to grab the good attention of political contenders. One would still have to imagine if the proliferation of different political support groups jostling for attention are for altruistic reasons or a ploy to blackmail political office seekers to part with part of their campaign funds with a promise to deliver the votes of the electorates to them. The later permutation may seem plausible for the simple reason that no sooner than the election season is over than the different support group will go under and never to resurrect until yet another fortuitous time.
It is also important to underscore part of the underlying principles responsible for the quick or temporal death of most of these political support groups.
Aside the possible angle of creating such groups by self serving individuals to cash in on the politicians jostling for political positions rather than the belief in such politicians as having the capacity to make life better for the electorates, the creators of such groups have maniacal and rabid mindset to obtain political fervors in cash and in kind at the expense of those they might have recruited to chant up the ego of themselves and their preferred candidates. Little consideration is therefore given to the feelings or the preferences of their followers. The attitude of most of the group leaders negate confidence building in the group. Most times, when money meant to carry out campaign or to secure the buy in of the electorates are handed to the group leaders, the information about every transaction is always shrouded in secrecy and only known to the promoters. Therefore, when the followers of each group cannot be carried along, they will refuse to be taken for granted in future.
I have taken my time to understudy the psychological make up of these political support groups which enabled me to assert the underpinnings above. Interestingly, one of the political support groups which emerged in Enugu State during Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s Era and which appears to be more credible and formidable than any other group ever to take a berth in Enugu is ENUGU DI N’AKACHUKWU MOVEMENT. No sooner than Governor Ugwuanyi taken his oath of office and acknowledged the Almighty God as the author and finisher of his administration than Hon. Mrs Bibian Chigbo Anekwe, the SSA to the Governor on Mobilization and Empowerment took the baton to coordinate a group that has stood the test of time. The group aptly codenamed “ENUGU DI N’AKACHUKWU MOVEMENT” to align with the objectives of our peaceful Governor took the sagacity, humility and diligence of Hon. Bibian Anekwe to build a formidable group that has become the toast of many politicians and non politicians in Enugu. Today almost everybody including children have been immersed with the principles and policies of Ndi Enugu Di n’aka Chukwu.
The humongous followers which Hon. Bibian has been able to ganner using the platform of the movement is second to none. ENUGU DI N’AKACHUKWU MOVEMENT has ample presence in all the 17 local government areas and major communities across the state. Hon. Bibian is down to earth, a goal getter and most importantly open minded to a fault. Her style of leadership as the DG of ENUGU DI N’AKACHUKWU MOVEMENT has attracted the goodwill of all and sundry. Today, if there is a resolution to go on a campaign train with any politician, the tumultuous crowd mainly of the group’s extraction in their gold and blue uniform with an embossed head of our mentor, governor Ugwuanyi and the incoming governor by the grace of God Barrister Peter Mba will be something felt than imagined. Going to campaign rallies with Ndi Enugu Di N’akachukwu is always a delight to behold.
Prior to the commencement of the campaign for the scheduled federal and state elections in 2023 and immediately after the party primaries, the members of the movement embarked upon on a series of pre solidarity visits to all PDP standard bearers across the 17 local government areas of the state to assure them of the movement’s unalloyed support towards their political ambition. As the campaign to elect candidates on the platform of various political parties hots up, the members of the ENUGU DI N’AKACHUKWU MOVEMENT are already in top form and have started roaring with all the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Ndi Enugu Di N’akachukwu, God will remain your strength and stronghold because your leader is an honourable woman of faith and candour. You shall remain like tomorrow because tomorrow never comes to an end.
