The Crisis in New Artisan Enugu, and the Operation Tie It On Gov Ugwuanyi’s Poor Neck

Ndi Enugu, April 22 saw crisis which happened at our beloved New Artisan axis wherein one incident led to the order and cumulatively led to shootings and the blockade of Enugu-PH Expressway. Some detractors of good governance are already on their toes seeking possible ways to gather the incident to lay it all on the shoulders of the peace loving Executive Governor of Enugu state, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Lawrence Ugwuanyi, a man who has invested huge resources to maintain peaceful coexistence among Enugu residents, irrespective of creed or clan.

Some persons who are rarely in Enugu, nor anywhere close to the state have already started ranting on the streets of social media that the crisis was a fight between the novel ESN/IPOB and our Fulani brothers with tge ulterior motive to create unrest, not only in Enugu, but, in the entire country. This devilish and sadistic account trying to create ethnic tension in Enugu And Nigeria or any other account with the intention to wrongly crucify Governor Ugwuanyi, a man with God-like large heart to love and accommodate all, must be torn into pieces and thrown to the trashcan.

The true story. Nwajanja Family of Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu state who are the original owners of the place called New Artisan, having gotten a Court Order issued by a High Court of Enugu which authorizes the demolition of structures and possession of the land area covering the New Artisan Market were violently resisted to carryout the decision of the court by some unscrupulous elements within the market. The hoodlums became riotous impeding the execution of a Court Order.

Report from police and other eyewitnesses also revealed that the miscreants set up burn-fires on the road, obstructed movement of vehicles, injured some persons whose number is yet to be confirmed, vandalized two caterpillars meant to be used to carry out the demolition order and set three vehicles ablaze. Have you seen that this has nothing to do with Enugu state government, Gov Ifeanyichukwu Lawrence Ugwuanyi nor the novel ESN?

It is not surprising that some poorly articulated accounts appallingly ridden and infested in bad English, concorted from devilish “Iago-like” villainous intentions are pointing false accusing fingers at the White Lion in the Lion Building (Allusion: Shakespeare’ Othello). This makes me recall a statement by Comr. Chidi Ilogebe, the immediate past Universal President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) who once said that “politics and leadership is a system whereby people elect those they will criticise”. Though, in this case, it is some persons, for some personal reasons known to only them and God, making fruitless efforts to label a people-oriented government led by our amiable Ugwuanyi evil. Gov Ifeanyichukwu Lawrence Ugwuanyi’s led administration has united all residents of the state, brought and keeps bringing all, whether Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Tiv, Efik, Kanuri to Enugu state leadership round-table for an all-round all-inclusive effective and efficient governance through the spirit of “onye arana nwanne ya” initiative (don’t leave your sibling behind or carry your neighbor along, when translated literally in English).

Permit me to say that everybody must not be a writer, but, if you must criticise Odoziobodo Gburus, please, do it in good English. It hurts when bad grammar forms a confluence with irrational bad intention and unjustifiable content. We cried for youth inclusiveness, Ugwuanyi made his administration more than 78 per cent youth. We cried for women empowerment, Nwoke Obioma Gburus, said it’s a walkover, and empowered lots of Enugu women who are currently in sensitive positions in the state. We cried for rural-urban development, Governor Ugwuanyi “wee bidozie ikwa uzo n’ikpa”. We cried for health care, today we have Gburuscare for the aged and the less privileged in the rural areas. What else do the detractors want from Governor Ugwuanyi, his precious life? Chukwu a ju! (God forbid). Permit me to add that the swift arrest of the 22nd-April-New-Artisan crisis has gone further to prove Gov Ifeanyichukwu Lawrence Ugwuanyi’s competence, and diehard hunger for peace and tranquility in Enugu.

May God Continue to bless the lovers and supporters of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s Peace Project in Enugu. For those who tarry, looking for opportunities to lynch the Lord’s Chosen Governor, “ura gakwa eju onye nwuru anwu afo”.
