The words God in the Bible always stress on hardwork as Christians and dwellers on earth, telling us that working honestly and with faith in mind, can lead to the great things God has planned for us. This particular Christian teaching has been driven down to a layman’s understanding by the words of different versions in the Bible, particularly the book of Galatians chapter 6 verse 9 which says and I quote: “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” This is where reward for hardwork come in handy.
Our human nature though shies away from hard work. The world today is full of people who only do the minimum and expect maximum benefits. They even tend to criticize those who work hard, because it exposes their own lethargy and laxity. But for every hardwork, there is a reward. So says the scripture, the greatest truth of Christians. It is only in reward that more works are done. Many great men in the Bible were testimonies to the reward of hardwork. Saint Paul is a very good example. Paul never forgot the fact that he had persecuted the people of God from time to time. He felt extremely privileged to be a minister of God after all he had done to many ministers before him. He knew he didn’t deserve that office. He was grateful for the grace God had shown him and wanted to prove to God that it hadn’t been given him in vain. So he put in work even when he faced many trials. He was Imprisoned repeatedly, flogged, exposed to death numerous times, pelted with stones but in the end he was rewarded by God with his Sainthood. This eternal reward has always motivated many other Christians to work hard, looking upto those who have been rewarded so they get their own rewards eventually. This paradigm unsurprisingly forms part of the core practices of His Excellency the Executive Governor of Enugu State, in the sense that no good/hard work goes without adequate reward. This exemplary rewarding nature of the governor is found in different instances in the past.
On the 26th of August 2020, Mrs Josephine Nchetaka Chukwujama-Eze, a teacher with a mission school in Enugu was given the sum of 1 Million naira cash reward by His Excellency in appreciation of the outstanding and exemplary honesty she displayed in returning N13,946,400.00, mistakenly paid into her account. This exemplary action by the Governor will, in ways immeasurably, drive down the good virtue of honesty in the lives of every citizen of the state and beyond, especially the young people who depend on good rewards like the one Mrs Josephine Nchetaka received from Governor Ugwuanyi to grow into better individuals who will one day impact positively on the state and the country by extention.
Notable again is the 20th day of February, 2021 when the outstanding Father of the State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi rewarded the six National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from the state who were among recipients of the President’s NYSC Honours award in Abuja, on February 11, 2021, for distinguishing themselves creditably in the service of their fatherland, during the 2018/2019 service year. In his usual way of driving the message of reward for every hardwork, Governor Ugwuanyi presented a cash reward to the six award recipients in appreciation of their patriotic zeal and dedication to service.
Indeed, one who sows reaps the benefit in a state where a rewarding Father like Governor Ugwuanyi is in charge of.
BIBIAN ANEKWE NEWS ADDED…A good objective of leadership is to help those who are doing poorly to do well and to help those who are doing well to do even better.”
