Our people said that “ife onye n’eme ka ekwe n’ akuru ya”, transliterated to mean that a man is known for his conducts, either good or bad. Another popular saying among Igbo folks says that “Odogwu abughi afa Otutu”. Odogwu means a heroic personality. Therefore, a Hero remains one and does not represent a pen name. I once wrote an article titled, “Why Gov Ugwuanyi’s Supporters Should Be Proud Sycophants” wherein I opined that aside the fact, that “The Project Ambassador” led administration has over delivered on the promises he made to the entire Ndi Enugu which took care of all critical sectors including youth empowerment and inclusion in governance, human capital development, massive urban and rural road constructions, etc Governor Ugwuanyi has also ensured that loyalty to his government begets loyalty. He has therefore dispensed in equal measures loyalty expressed in words and deeds by Ndi Enugu.
In case you don’t understand my last premise, kindly read and understand the following… Loyalty is a two edged sword – it saves and also consumes. Loyalty saves when it is returned or lubricated. Loyalty is like a vegetable, without enough water, it will die off. It will suffer malnutrition. This is what many a politician who hunger for loyalty today has refused to learn from our amiable all-round loving and loved Nwa David Ugwuanyi, “AGU N’ECHE NDI N’ECHE YA”, His Excellency Rt Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
Everybody wants loyalty, but few people know how to water loyalty. Loyalty is like a wheel, it need to be lubricated regularly. Some people think their loyalists are animals with low intelligent capacity who don’t know the difference between loyalty and slavery. A wise loyalist follows a leader who follows him or her. Ndi Enugu gave Governor Ugwuanyi more than 99.9 per cent support during during 2015 and 2019 gubernatorial election, and the Governor refused to take this for granted and ensured that every Dick and Harry irrespective of political leaning, clannish dispositions or ethnicity are carried along in the governance of the state. Governor Ugwuanyi understands that one will willingly support a leader’s course if the leader in turn supports the yearning and aspirations of the led.
To whom it may concern, understand that this writer (Ochenwari) is not an appointee of The Peace Ambassador of a Governor, Gburugburu. The writer is a concerned Enugu resident who is diligently observing Governor Ugwuanyi’s style of transformational politics and dynamic leadership and has chosen to make his personal submission in words which is the submission of the sane majority of Enugu residents who have come close to the man who embodies a golden and a compassionate heart. You may chose to label the writer a sycophant, which isn’t a wrong notion. It is good to play sycophant to a leader whose legacies will stand the test of time than sit at the confines of my room and destructively criticize a man who works tirelessly to better the lives of the poor masses of Enugu State.
I and my friends are not ashamed to be called sycophants to the Governor who is currently solving the problem of traffic congestion in Enugu by erecting a magnificent flyover. We are not ashamed to be called sycophants to a Governor who promised Enugu youths of 50 percent inclusion in his government, and delivered more than 90 per cent youth inclusiveness and much more. I’m not ashamed to be called blind follower of a Governor who promised women empowerment whose office gave us the likes of the amazon, Hon Bibian Anekwe, the SSA to Enugu State Governor on Empowerment and Mobilization, including other brilliant and intellectually sound women who currently serve in many sensitive key positions in Enugu state.
Next time you want to call me a sycophant, remember that Governor Ugwuanyi’s led government, through the office of the SPA on SME, Hon Arinze Chilo-offiah currently tours all the tertiary institutions in Enugu state offering soft loans to students and entrepreneurs to enable them start small businesses that can sustain them while their course runs in school. Thank you and God bless all lovers of good governance. Loyalty remains a two dimensional phenomenon. It is meant to be returned. Gov. Ugwuanyi is loved because he loves, too. Loyalty is looking out for people who look out for you. Loyalty is not about who acts true to your face, but who remains true behind your back. Loyalty isn’t grey, it is black or white. Loyalty is a two way traffic. Loyalty is meant to be returned. God bless Governor Ugwuanyi for educating Enugu youths who have chosen to learn on how to lead transformationally. Governor Ugwuanyi has prepared many an Enugu youth. I pray we learn and not take his extraordinary meekness, humility, and generous leadership style as stupidity. It has taken him far, it can still work for many.
Bibian Anekwe News… added…There will be obstacles. There will be doubters. There will be mistakes. But with hard work, there are no limits.
