Times without number has Chief Maurice Akueme continues to prove that he appreciates the communicative import embedded in the timeless adage that “There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.” Chief Akueme also knows that it is in the faces of settled problems that we see the handwork of achievers and that’s the major inspiration behind his latest move to offset the bills of some patients at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Enugu.

Just recently, the peaceful people of Nenwenta in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State experienced the radiating reverberations of Chief Akueme’s humanitarianism as he launched a brand new shelter for a poor widow and her children. In a humble furtherance of his exceptional largesse, Chief Akueme went further to enroll the children of the beneficiary into a scholarship program bankrolled by the renowned Maurice Akueme Foundation (MAF). Certainly, Chief Akueme succeeded in wiping out the tears from the family who were carelessly exposed to both the sun and rain .

And now, just few days ago, the meek philanthropist once again breezed into the National Orthopedic Hospital, Enugu to put smiles on the faces of the patients under severe pains and hard anesthetics. Anyone who had been in any bone setting center or an orthopedic hospital would readily testify to the simmering but silent mood that mark their wards and theaters. By offsetting the bills of those families who by accident or design have found themselves in the orthopedic hospital, Chief Akueme would inevitably reap the bounty harvest of his kind gestures.

From every indication, it is obvious that no rational soul should be tutored on the benefits of alms giving but there is need to emphasize the reality that there is no love without care and Chief Maurice Akueme has proven that the icon of philanthropy remains his personification.

As we all struggle to develop humanity via humanity , I humbly doff my cap before Chief Maurice Akueme for his timely interventions in ameliorating the pains of those that are really in need.

Enugu State is in the Hands of God .
