Politics has been considered a legitimate route to good governance in the society. Most importantly the primary function of government is to provide and ensure security of lives and properties of the people, ensure the sicio-economic, cultural, legal and societal harmony. Engender public trust and uplift the general living standards of the people. The functions of government are truly legion, but it is important to mention that in all these, peace remains the panacea for societal equilibrium that will enhance socio-political and economic development and growth.
Politics in most cases involves healthy and unhealthy competition were the competitors adopt game strategies to outwit one another. Many of the elected public office holders appear to seek political office for personal aggrandizement, power and authority to humiliate others especially peceived enemies while a very few patriotically nurtured seeks such elected positions for selfless services and determined to render to his constituents with no reservations. Politics and development work in tandem which help in nurturing economic growth and emancipation of a given society in all areas of human endeavours.
Rt. Honorable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has truly nurtured a political style that has engendered economic development and advanced the peace of Ndi Enugu. His determined objective to advance the State economically guided his quest for economic growth through peace building and security which has attracted massive investors and has increased Public and Private Partnership in the State. Governor Ugwuanyi development initiative is devoid of partisan considerations which has sustained development in the State in all sectors of our economy that has resulted in growth.
The two development approaches which emerged in the current administration are the obvious cooperation between the government and her people as exemplified in the various accolades and rallies different political zones are organizing in total solidarity for the good work of the current administration. The harmonious coexistence enthroned by the current administration helped in uniting the people despite their political/religious affiliations but ensured that everyone sees one another as humans and thus created the consciousness of being equal partners in progress. The recent Sallah gift to Moslem community in the State shows that Governor Ugwuanyi sees everyone in the State as unique God’s creation and a bold effort to ensure that religious tolerance abound in the State. He is indeed Akidi Ama Oke Ala. Governor Ugwuanyi remains the hope of Nigeria Corporate Existence.
Governor Ugwuanyi, have chosen peace and development over politics which has yielded an oriented leadership in the State with the following factors:
1. With the governor’s mindset focused on peace and economic development, there is significant engagement on issues of socio-economic development in the State for six years of his administration especially in rural areas.
2. Governor Ugwuanyi engages experts in decision making process which has shaped his leadership to be unique and genuinely receiving accolades from the governed.
3. He provided environment for genuine socio-economic development of the State.
4. Governor Ugwuanyi created the enabling environment for the private sector to operate and bring in investment through which the people have employment opportunities. The current administration is doing everything humanly possible to put in place world-class infrastructure to attract more investment and grow critical economies of the State before 2023.
It is our citizen’s responsibilities to support an administration with human face and pray for a continuous good governance initiative started by the current administration to be sustained.
