Good governance is not known by the echoes of songs and chants of the media, rather, by the empirical, pragmatic and probable giant results that can be meritoriously credited to it at a criticism adequately placed on that golden-mean advised by the wise Aristotle, the great ancient philosopher. Governance is not what happened when those who have been empowered are empowered the more but when the less-advantaged, the downtrodden are empowered enough to feel the positive impact of their (own) government. This could be exactly what Governor Ugwuanyi tends to exemplify through the Enugu SME Center run by his Special Adviser on SME Development, Hon Arinze Chilo-offiah.
Few days ago, I couldn’t help telling one of my brothers whom people used to perceive as a diehard critic of His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi’s led administration that there is absolutely no professional critic in Enugu state. My brother whose countenance appeared taken aback asked what I meant by that. I kindly told him off that objective criticism is murdered and buried in that criticism that labels Governor Ugwuanyi’s administration a total failure like what I used to see being paraded by most self-acclaimed political critics. Enugu SME Center headed by Hon Arinze Chilo-offiah, the SPA to the excellent result-hungry Governor of Enugu state, among other streams of skills acquisition projects ongoing at the centre, has also launched auto-mobile revamp training initiative which has more than one thousand (1,000) Enugu youths painstakingly undergoing the systematically planned program. But, “those Enugu critics of doom” as they have proven to the educated elite will never commend nor trash such good will. I doubt they see such mind-blowing programs.
Gently, the Auto-Revamp Innovative Training Program (AITP) is one of the programs under the zero interest Human Capital Development Loan Programs of the Agency under His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s led administration geared towards fighting and eradicating extreme poverty and unemployment in Enugu state. It is Enugu state government’s efforts towards affecting the life of Enugu state residents, especially, the youths directly, door-to-door, to the bareless grassroot level, until every grateful family in Enugu taste and testify the goodness of God through Governor Ifeanyichukwu Lawrence Ugwuanyi’s administration. It is a “conspiracy” to take thousands of suffering youths off the street. It is practical approach hatched to curtail the rate of prostitution caused by joblessness and poverty in Nigeria. It is Enugu state government’s initiative to fight unemployment practically, tooth and nail.
According to the situational report, gotten from the centre, the Auto-Revamp Innovative Teainjng Program (AITP) experiment an every day positive improvement in the overjoyed and appreciative beneficiaries who continue to experience hands-on intensive training for over sixteen weeks. The host institution, takes the form of every other academic institution’s curriculum by always carrying out formative or what we might call in-training or on-training evaluation, otherwise known as continuous assessment.
The centre explained that the purpose of the intense continuous assessment is to help the trainers to assess individual trainee’s level of understanding and intellectual development in such areas as Auto-Body Metal Works (both at basic and advanced levels), auto-mobile body painting (basic and advanced), auto-mobile detailing and interior works, specialised auto-mobile detailing, Auto-Body Preps, industry safety practices, to mention but few. The private sector partner for AITP is Autoease Limited, a foremost Auto Body Work Company in Enugu State.
The aim, according to the EnuguSME boss, is to build an Enugu that will soon become a hub for auto-mobile giants and experts. Studies have proven that when you empower one youth, you have already empowered more than a hundred other people you might not know through her or him. My beautiful mum, Mrs Agnes used to tell me that those who have handiwork don’t know seasons. And there is no limit to an amount of money they can make in a day or in a month. One of the legacies of the present government of the state, among ocean of others, is the creation of empowered reasonable youths who can empower others reasonable youths. If you know, you know.
