This toast is premised on the fact that His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is assiduously working to meet up with the words he placed on the marble of time during his first term inaugural speech on the 29th May, 2015 at Okpara Square, Enugu and I quote; “Enugu State under my leadership will pay special attention to the rural development because the bulk of our people live in the rural areas. He also promised to observe and consolidate on the good work of his immediate Predecessor, Barr. Sullivan Chime has started for eight years ago before handing over to him and promised to create a new and enduring legacy for the good people of Enugu State. He further said that he would create more urban areas to boast economic growth. In line with that, he said we must equipped and modernized Nsukka, a University town founded over half a century ago to compete with other University towns in attracting technology and knowledge based business and other individual support ventures, bearing in mind that Nsukka is the second largest town in Enugu State. He further more, promised to derived with full force investment promotion on agricultural sector renewal, provision of infrastructure, human capital development and skill acquisition. Most importantly, he committed Enugu State into the Hands of God. It is just barely one year that Governor Ugwuanyi assumed the mantle of leadership in Enugu State for his second term in office and under normal circumstances, it is expected of us to thank and praise him for what he was able to achieved in his first term in office. Within some weeks in his first term in office, Governor Ugwuanyi brought all hands on deck in his transformational leadership orientation for team work. Within that short period, he brought leaders and followers together, irrespective of divergent persuasion into his stewardship headed towards a safe harbour. One of his cardinal principles is his commitment in maintaining a character of balance and handedness in running of the affairs of Enugu State which has received a wide commendations. These were exemplified by his already completed projects both urban and rural roads across the three Senatorial Zone of Enugu State. These few roads were constructed / rehabilitated over 600km of rural roads across the three Senatorial Zones mostly in the rural areas. 1. Rehabilitation of Abakpa Nike road in Enugu East LGA. 2. Completion of Enugu-Onitsha-Ama bypass in Udi LGA. 3. Construction of Amankwo-Amaeke-Ama Brewery 9th mile bypass in Udi LGA. 4. Construction of 10.5km road of Nike lake junction-Harmony Estate-Amorji Nike-Adoration Pilgrimage Centre-Orie Emene road linking the ever busy Abakpa Nike with Emene satellite town in Enugu East LGA. 5. Rehabilitation of old UNTH bunker road in Enugu North LGA. 6. remodeled and Renovation of Abuja Building Government House, Enugu. 7. Rehabilitated and remodeled the ancient, historic and undulating 11km Milliken Hill-Ngwo-9th Mile road in Enugu North and Udi LGAs. 8. Constructed the 31km Udenu Ring road with two high tech bridges in Udenu LGA. 9. Reconstructed and dualization of Opi-Nsukka road in Nsukka LGA. 10. Reconstructed Umuezebi-Nru junction-University gate road, the Post office Roundabout Junction-Odenigbo Roundabout-Ogurugu road-Ikenga road and the Obechara Road junction-Umakashi-Mechanic Village-Ikenga Hostels junction road, all in Nsukka LGA. 11. Construction of the 26.66km Ukpabi-Nimbo-Ugbene Ajima-Eziani road in Uzo-Uwani LGA. 12. Construction of the 22.443km Neke-Mbu-Ogbodu Aba-Obollo Etiti intercommunity road linking Isi-Uzo and Udenu LGA.13. Constructed the 8.2km Inyi-Akpugoeze road in Oji-River LGA. 14. Constructed the Ituku road in Awgu LGA and Amuri road in Nkanu West LGA.15. Executed 35 grassroots development projects across the 17 LGAs. 16. Construction of the first phase of the Enugu State Secretariat annex in Nsukka. 17. Construction of the Nsukka township Stadium. 19. Construction of first Christian Chapel of Worship at the Government House. His Excellency, Governor Ugwuanyi has also started these on going roads: 1. Amutenyi-Obollo-Afor-Umuenachi-Amalla road in Udenu LGA. 2. On going construction of Eha-Alumona-Eha-Ndiagu and Umabor-Breme-Mbu road between Nsukka and Isi-Uzo LGAs. 3. On going construction of 4:5km of Ugbaike-Amachalla-Igogoro road in Igbo-Eze North LGA. 4. On going completion of International Conference Centre in Enugu. 5. On going completion of 52km road of Eke-Ebe-Affah-Akpakpaumenze-Aku-Nkpologu road leading to Adada Dam in between Udi, Igbo-Etiti and Uzo-Uwani LGAs. 6. On going construction of Nkpologu-Uvuru-Ukpata-Adaba-Umulokpa road leading to Uzo-Uwani Local Government Headquarters. 7. On going construction and fencing of arts at the Unity Park, formerly known as forest Reserve, Enugu, to serves as a tourist attraction and place for relaxation and recreation.8. On going construction of Cottage Hospital with isolation wing in Awgu, Oji-River, Ogrute Enugu-Ezike General Hospitals, and also in Orbs in Udenu LGAs. All these His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to better the lives of his people, Ndi-Enugu while some other States are battling on how to pay their workers the new minimum wage. Indeed, we the good people of Enugu State and residents have found our long time sought leader in the person of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, (Gburugburu) He is a governor who has risen up to the occasion and ennoble his office by displaying love for all classes of people and radiating leadership qualities of superlative degree. This appears quite willing to consider wise counsel when given and had none of the pride and arrogance that plagued his Predecessors in office. He is scored high in his policy of bringing in men and women who have the initiative, brilliance and stamina to add value to his governance. Thus one could see personalities such as Hon. Barr. Cecilia Ezeilo as his Deputy, Prof. Simon Orturanya, a Professor of law as the Secretary to Enugu State Government, SSG, Dr. Festus Uzor, an experienced technocrat who has so well blended his legislative acumen with the executive function as the Chief of Staff, Chief Hon. Matthew Anenechukwu Idu, an agriculturist Per Excellence as the Commissioner for Agriculture, Chief Hon. Ogbonna Idike, a pioneer asphalt Chairman in Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Barr. Jonathan Chukwuma, a former deputy Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly as Special Adviser, Dr Chinonso Godwin Anigbo, an administrator per Excellence as Permanent Secretary also and host of others who for lack of space cannot be mentioned here. A litany of testimonies from people of Enugu State revealed that he is a very pleasant fellow, an upright man who does not only want people to work with him openly without secret agenda, but also that people should placed their cards on the table for taking the State to a greater height. It is on record that his tireless and heroic efforts have tremendously transformed Enugu State as can see in the massive rehabilitation of urban and rural roads, provision of other infrastructures, such as pipe borne water, rural electrification, housing estates, agricultural inputs, security and provision of enabling and friendly environment for the industrialization of Enugu State. Honestly, I see His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in likes of Sir. Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela and Chief Michael Okpara. These were people who gave up their comfort and pleasures of the world in order to build up others and make them comfortable in life. Such people are Christ like. They are men who aimed at higher value and pursue it relentlessly not minding the sacrifices until such values are attained. Such people are heroes, above all, our Governor, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is the sources of inspiration for all times. No wonder during the build up for his reelection campaign, the unwavering solidarity groups and crowns of people from all walks of life who thronged the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu in appreciation for Governor Ugwuanyi’s endorsement by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for his re-election. This was of course, an eloquent testimony to the fact that the citizens of Enugu State and residents have found their Messiah for our forefathers dream, Enugu State in Governor Ugwuanyi. He is a compassionate leader who understands the feelings of his people. It is in line with this, all the peace loving and reasonable people of Enugu State, beginning from the Clergy, former Governors of Enugu State and old Anambra State, Past and present National Assembly Members, Elders Council, Politicians of different Political Parties, Students, women and children, declared their unflinching solidarity supports for a leader whose policies and actions have within these few years touched positively on all strata of the society. Finally, it is also in appreciation of our Governor’s honour done to our Youths in their inclusion in his governance as Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Technical Assistants etc.. The Youth of Enugu State are grateful for the honour bestowed on some their Youths and prayed God to continued to guide and protect the Governor for a smooth transition come 2023.
