Odinma Nsukka is a nonpartisan group of Enugu North Senatorial Zone which seeks the unity of all Nsukka people behind Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, irrespective of party affiliations. It is a group which comprises who is who in the Nsukka cultural zone whose purpose is to unite the Nsukka people to support the government of Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to complete its tenure with the giant strides it is making in all sectors and zones of the state and also to support the governor in his prudent and wise choice of a successor in 2023.
The Chief Vitalis Abba-led group is enthralled by the rarity of the Ugwuanyi administration in its manner of good governance that cuts across the state. Ugwuanyi knows no friends nor foes. He seems to be guided by the biblical saying, “be at peace with all men.” He has pursued this mantra as a guiding philosophy in his relationship at the vertical and horizontal levels in the course of his service to the people of Enugu State. Ugwuanyi has a large heart which has the capacity to douse emotions and rationally contain all, including some uncalled-for tantrums and expletives being thrown by some misguided political jobbers. He is the huge consciousness of a father figure in the worldview of the people of Enugu State. This has brought about positive developments in the state. We had had cases of insecurity and outright persecution of the opposition in some previous administrations of the state. But since 2015 to date, Enugu State has known unprecedented equanimity. This is rare, not only in Enugu State but also in many other states where the governors would not brook any opposition at all. This philosophy of be at peace with all men has earned the state peace and security being enjoyed by all.
The saying that if a route is smooth, people would travel by it more than ones is an aphorism that captures the natural urge of the people to ensure the replication of Ugwuanyi’s spirit in the administration of Enugu State in 2023 and this Odinma Nsukka thinks may be engendered if the People’s Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, would have a hand in the choosing of his successor in 2023.
The group recently organised a mega rally in honour of this illustrious son of Nsukka, Governor Ugwuanyi. At the rally held at Nsukka High School field, the entire Nsukka people emptied into the arena to the extent that if one threw up a grain of sand, it would not find a space for landing. At the rally, even those who had been in opposition to the government pledged their support to the governor. Chief Ayogu Eze, who contested the governorship seat against Governor Ugwuanyi, spoke about him in glowing terms, pledged his support and urged all Nsukka sons and daughters to support the Ugwuanyi administration which has performed creditably. The representatives of the people in various dimensions also spoke glowingly about Ugwuanyi as a blessing to the state and the Nsukka cultural zone. Chief Nnia Nwodo, the immediate past president of Ohaneze Ndigbo, extolled Ugwuanyi for rising above the politics of clannishness and nepotism and lavishly implemented great projects in other zones even much more than he had done in the Nsukka cultural zone. He, however, urged His Excellency to use the remaining two years to do more for Nsukka people. Senator Chukwuka Utazi also toed the same path. In all, Ugwuanyi is seen as the pumpkin leaves and soldier ants that know no boundaries.
Not yet done with its support and message of peace and progress which Governor Ugwuanyi epitomises, the Vita Abba-led group began a tour of all the development centres in the six local governments that constitute the Enugu North Senatorial zone. The group which comprises Chief Vita Abba as the Chairman, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, national coordinator, Chief Frank Ugwu, Hon. Malachy Agbo, Chief Dr. Dan Shere, Dr. Fidelis Odo, Chief Dr. (Dr.) Patrick Asadu, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Nwamba, Barr. Tony Ugwu, Hon. Alphonsus Nweze, to mention no more, is passionate about its message of peace and progress and the galvanization of support for His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. It is not for nothing that these great men who people Odinma Nsukka would spend their time and resources to unite the Nsukka people behind their illustrious son, Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, despite party affiliations. This also is a confirmation of the biblical saying that when the ways of a man pleases God, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Ugwuanyi is like King Solomon. God gave him the wisdom for leadership and he has delivered this grace God committed into his hands in his service to the people of Enugu State. Little wonder, Odinma Nsukka would not brook any opposition to his administration and his choice of a candidate to replace him in 2023 because there is absolutely no reason for any opposition anywhere, to say nothing of Nsukka cultural zone which takes pride in the stellar and unprecedented achievements of Governor Ugwuanyi.
Odinma Nsukka occured to the people as leaves would to a tree. The emergence is a response to the stimulus of good governance. It is a natural response to this rare gift to humanity, Enugu State and the Nsukka zone in particular. Odinma Nsukka is a celebration of humility, meekness of heart, kindness, competence, apt management of men and resources and their resultant crystalization in good governance which Ugwuanyi embodies.
The group employs moral suation to draw out of the pit of treachery any son of Nsukka cultural zone who might have sold himself to strangers; who might have fallen to the bait and wiles of overambitious politicians from any other zone. The peace-loving Odinma Nsukka, however, says it may consider other options should anyone see the light Ugwuanyi exemplifies and run to darkness. As far as Odinma Nsukka is concerned, the total support of the people of Nsukka cultural zone for Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is not negotiable.
Incidentally, the message of Odinma Nsukka is well received by the people, as it is a message of peace, progress, hope and the development of the Nsukka man in totality.
We, therefore, appreciate what Odinma Nsukka is doing and urge it to sustain the passionate drive to take Nsukka to this enviable height of unity and support for our own who is doing wonders, whose magical hands of governance weave indelible patterns in the annals of developmental strides in governance. When the story shall be told, it shall be said that Enugu State did experience the rare Midas Touch of an Nsukka man who turned governance into gold and made out of the rock honey for the people.
