Owing to the fact that governance is an all-inclusive affair that provides a platform for every citizen to have a stake, it will be logical to assert that satisfying the expectations of all cannever be a child’s play and it will not be difficult to experience some dissenting voices that would go to every extent to pull down a particular regime of government , even if it means peddling some propaganda against the government. However, it is the responsibility of the leader of a state to find out ways of setting his priorities right without failing to take care of his primary expectation which is to maintain peace and order that remain mandatory ingredients in every socio-political setup before any other meaningful development can take place.
It is in view of the above orientation that I wish to briefly mirror some of the leadership principles of Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the executive governor of Enugu State in order to separate the chaff from the grain. Permit me to submit that with the huge sponsorship and mobilization of the various security agencies undertaken by Ugwuanyi’s administration in Enugu State, that it is one of glaring principles of Gburu Gburu to ensure the effective security of his state in order to encourage right-round investment and development.
Without feeling unnecessarily buoyed by the genuine applause emanating from every corner of the state, His Excellency, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi after assuming his position set out to aggressively tackle the infrastructural deficit noticed in the state. Without any form of prompting, he faced the forlorn Awgu General Hospital and gave it a standard face-lift to the jubilation of Awgu indigenes and moved swiftly to renovate and remodel the camp designed for the orientation of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC camp) also located in Awgu, not minding the fact that NYSC projects remain federal government projects. And this indicates that it is inherent in the character of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to make impact without shoving aside responsibilities especially when those impacts are desperately needed by the people.
Being a smooth talker and a smart negotiator, Gburu Gburu who is obviously applying some of the famed Sun Tzu’s Art of War strategies does not take delight in crushing his opposition with force, rather he smells troubles from afar and tries to shoot them down before they become destructive. It is very clear that Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is one those few leaders who understands the secrets of avoiding or winning a war without firing a single gunshot.
Though, it is not the primary dimension of this article to take the inventory of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s administration, it is still relevant to highlight some of the key accomplishments recorded so far in order to lend credence to the fact that one of his leadership principles is to ensure that the welfare of his people are adequately and appropriately addressed. It is true that most of his achievements are already in the public domain but how can we wave aside the fact that Ugwuanyi’s administration is the first to pay Enugu State workers 13TH month salary? Why won’t we forever appreciate him for recruiting about 3000 school teachers without owing them? Or would we forget in haste that his government has constructed more than 500 kilometres of road network in the state, providing street lights along some of them? What do we say to a governor that constructed over 600 class room blocks, providing about 12,481 writing desks along with teachers’ tables and computers and other modern educational facilities in all the local governments of the state? How do we describe a leader that has continued to sponsor the entrepreneurship development and training of his people and ensuring that most of the participants have access to soft loans after completing their programs? My people, I bet you that your answers are as good as mine but I know that Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, the executive governor of ENUGU STATE must have put a lot of factors into consideration before entrusting ENUGU STATE in the Hands of God.
