The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Tukur Buratai, has said that the military will embarrass Boko Haram and the Islamic States for West African Province (ISWAP) in 2021.
Buratai made the assurance at a meeting in his hometown of Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, according to the Daily Sun.
“I am very optimistic that 2021 will be different, totally different with a remarkable difference from 2020.
“I want you to see it as a challenge and a task that must be done because we are the one that can do it because Nigerians believe in us and believe that we can do it.
“You should go into the year with full conviction that we can do better to address the insecurity in our country,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has backed those calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to ask for foreign help to fight and defeat the Boko Haram insurgency.
Sule, who spoke on Channels Television on Sunday night, said the Nigerian government should engage the Chadian Army and others to help end the insurgency in the North-East once and for all.
According to the governor, the success made by the Chadians in handling Boko Haram was the reason he asked the President to engage them. Sule added that other options should be explored to defeat the insurgents in the North-East.
