Governor Nasir El-Rufai has been advised to consult with the former governor of Kaduna State, Ahmed MaKarfi and other stakeholders to find a solution to the crisis rocking Kaduna State.
The advice was given by Isah Abubakar, national president, Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
Speaking in an interview with Daily Independent, Abubakar asked El-Rufai to meet with Makarfi to tell him the strategy he used during the Sharia wars in Kaduna State when he (Maikarfi) was the governor.
He slammed El-Rufai for refusing to go to the grassroots and understand the needs of the people.
Abubakar said, “The utterances of Kaduna State governor are not moving towards the direction that is expected. His words are too harsh. He forgot that there were people who governed Kaduna State before him. He is not mindful of the fact that he would leave the office in less than three years.
“It is obvious that El-Rufai has refused to learn. He sees himself as an island of knowledge. He should consult and meet people like Ahmed Makarfi, who was governor during the time of several Sharia wars in the state. Let him meet him (Makarfi) to tell him the strategy he used to douse tensions in those periods.”
