Politics apart, Rt. Honourable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu state has made an indelible mark in the sands of time since he forays into politics over two decades ago. That he has continued to distinguish himself in his approach to governance issues right from his stint at the National Assembly to his present position as the Chief Executive of Enugu state is an understatement for discerning minds.
His distinguishing marks as a manager of men and resources lies in his calm mien, candour and uncommon humility which often belies his inner strength to focus and deliver on his set programs. Little wonder Mr. Fulfilment as he is fondly called has always had a relative smooth ride, little or weakened opposition in being elected right from the primaries to the main election. As a distinguished politician, his brand of politics without bitterness has largely enamored him to a wide spectrum of groups within and without his political base. In his trajectory as a fine political specie, the South East caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party affirmed him as their new Leader after the defection of the former occupant Engr. Dave Umahi to the All Progressive Congress. Ever since he was appointed, not quite a handful of interest party groups have visited him as a sign of solidarity. It must be noted that these regular visits by individuals and groups has never been forced on such individuals and groups or rented as it is the usual practice of underperforming leaders to shore up their political image.
The good works of Governor Ugwuanyi are largely responsible for all the endorsements. Not quite a few people will always be delighted to commit their resources in time and money to co-own and spread out the gospel of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
Today, the question on the lips of his many admirerers and foes alike is whiter Ugwuanyi after 2023. Is he going to take a deserved rest and become one of the distinguished statemen ever to come from Enugu state or is he going to heed the clarion call to have a shot at the Presidency of this country. Wherever God directs his footsteps, Rt. Honourable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi should rest assure that it will be Gburu-Gburu again and all the way to the Aso – Villa seat of the Nation’s power base. He who the cap fits, let him wear please. Our governor, you deserve all the encomiums and support you are receiving and have continued to receive from all nooks and crannies of this country. May God lead you alright to His own glory alone, Amen.
What Ugwuanyi did with ndi Enugu will sure reverberate when he hits the national scene once again in 2023. It is to his credit that an unprecedented community development initiative, which captured the traditional rulers along with their town union presidents in the day to day governance of the state has evolved. The government of Enugu State recently raised an intervention fund for various communities in the state to enable them drive home democracy dividends to their people and this has never happened in the history of political engineering in Enugu State.
Enugu State under Ugwuanyi has evolved a united and peaceful disposition that undermines partisan politics; in Enugu today, we don’t talk about party. We talk about development, unity, peace and love. It is said that when the righteous is in power, the people rejoice. Enugu is rejoicing because of the fine leadership of Governor Ugwuanyi. He is a man with Godly heart; he is a man with amiable and human disposition.
Enugu state is in the hands of God really!
