Education has been adjudged to be the bedrock of every society. If this statement is so true, then it is important that government at all levels and all critical stakeholders in the education industry take the issues of educational development very seriously. Ironically, the reverse has been the case save for few who will never take no for an answer. There is no doubt that the education industry especially government managed educational system has waned and nose-dived over the years. Regrettably, nothing or little is being done to better the situation. Rather, with the opening up of the space In favour of the privately managed educational institutions which has grown in leaps and bounds in the not too distant past, parents have had to resort to the patronage of these private schools in difference to the uninspiring public schools.
In Enugu State, the situation was not too different and education growth seemed too gloomy occasioned by grim economic realities, incompetencies of public officials in the education sector and uninspiring government efforts to leverage its growth. Today, one leader who understands the importance of education as the true bedrock for accelerated economic development and growth has risen from among us in difference to our too ugly past in the education sector. Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is not leaving any stone unrolled to ensure that public education in Enugu receives more than enough government attention to reverse the trend of uninspiring trajectory in the education industry. From the appointment of tested and trusted technocrats in relevant education boards that has not failed the confidence of the Governor in them, he has gone a step further to boost their efforts via the appointments of more Education Secretaries totaling 88 in number. What a great move to stamp the authority of the education industry as a panacea for our socio-economic growth! Governor Ugwuanyi has indeed high vision to harness the quality potentials of these eminent education administrators to pull our education sector from the brinks. What a passionate leader that is always thinking on his next move to realize his goals in government.
The exceptional efforts and massive intervention in the education sector by Governor Ugwuanyi led administration is not only heart warming but worthy of commendation by all men of goodwill. From the rehabilitation and construction of new class room blocks, provision of instructional aids, modern learning materials and recruitment of competent teachers and other personnel in the education industry, governor Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi seem to be winning in all marks.
Today, things are gradually getting better in the education sector. The much detested public schools in Enugu are gradually gaining popularity and acceptance among the parents and children. It is equally heart warming that education is still within the reach of the common folks in the society. Thanks to Ugwuanyi. A leader like no other. A leader who understands his mission in government. Today, children from the public schools in Enugu are winning laurels in different categories from different competitions being organized for students and pupils by different organized bodies across Nigeria. This is indeed more heart warming and attributable to the positive impacts of our dear Governor. We earnestly pray and hope that these impacts would be sustained by the incoming administration after Gburu-Gburu in 2023. So help us God because our state is in Your massive Hands.
