Few days ago, in a meeting of the Federal Executive Counsil presided over by President Muhammad Buhari approved a total of twenty (20) Private Varsities with a handful located in the West and North of the country. While two are located in Imo State. But Under the supreme leadership of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu State laughed large.
Ugwuanyi, a silent achiever, in his infinite wisdom of Federal and State relationship and mutual-romance brought a Federal Polytechnic to his State. Now sited at Ohodo Abba, in IGBO-ETITI local government area of the State with 2billion naira take off grant. What more, Ugwuanyi has delivered much, nearly terms of his manifestoes to the good people of Enugu State with the case of IGBO-ETITI crowning it.
Aristotle often quoted quote goes” Just like the living is different from the dead, so is the educated from the illiterate”, Ugwuanyi has given life; reignited and reawakened the fast declining interest in academic pursuit of the affected community, the IGBO-ETITI local government and Enugu State at large. As an academic giant, who appreciates the prospects of acquiring formal education by citizens of a State,he has continued to work assiduously in creating educational opportunities to the Enugu people with prime concern to rural communities. This hopefully, will contain the super pressure faced by other densely populated State Varsities. Recall also that Ugwuanyi’s spectacular attention to educational sector trickled down to Igbo-Ano, where ESUT College of Health is magnificently under construction.
This stupendous achievement by His Excellency Ugwuanyi, comes handy in the face of swift and speedy waning of academic interest in our wards. Obviously, there is no gainsaying that today’s Nigeria is suffering dearth in the reading culture our Youths, the assumed leaders of tommorow. Our Youths now pick timeless truth such as” a reader is a leader” with a pinch of salt. It appears not to hold sway amongst Nigerian Students again. Cut corners, results without hardworking are now students wares and tools of trade. The scathing effects of poor reading culture by Students are rife with us and need no mention here. Yet, another monumental opportunity has been created to rewire this ugly fate. Discretion has been offered to Ohodians to either journey far or stay within for purposes of educational enhancement.
On a more economic notes, juicy job chances abound both in the construction and academic kick off in the Federal Polytechnic,Ohodo Abba, in the academic and non-academic strata of employments.
The ever exsanguinating Orie Ohodo Market for once will receive commercial pint of blood. Ohodo, Once a dull community in a blink turned into urban cruise. Such are wonders of good efficient and all-encompassing governance. Like the biblical Nazareth, IGBO-ETITI is by no means the least town. Their prominent sons and daughters in the academic community are relentlessly doing pretty good as well.
Now you can appreciate why IGBO-ETITI celebrates, the depth of their happiness is unfathomable. They are in utter State of julification because the people’s Governor has done it again, they pray for more. But happiness is contagious, Enugu State laughs.
Enugu State shall remain in the hands of God.
