As every politician and his aspiring mentees juggle up for the fast approaching 2023 almighty general election, interested spectators would now be more or less preoccupied with the inclination to continue to balance the equations with regards to who gets what from the hierarchical structure of the upcoming political leadership in Enugu state particularly and Nigeria in general.
Taking into account the foregoing political machinations marking the submissions of Enugu State political actors in view of who succeeds who come 2023,it can be deduced that some of the ambitious politicians are merely driven by envy, greed and desperation to cling firmly to political power and not the rational intention to advance the growth and development of the state. For sure, such characters can be interpreted as the elements that subscribe to the concept of intimidation as a veritable weapon of validating victory at the polls. Certainly those persons who are averse to the timeless ethics and due process that have sustained peace and peaceful transitions in Enugu State are the ones gathering and fathering some conspiracy theories to intimidate the genial Governor into unwholesome submission but I know they won’t succeed.
Those with twisted intention to cow our peace-driven governor should not forget that since 1999 it has always been the pre-transition activity marking every general election for the interest of the outgoing governor to hold sway when the choice of the candidacy of his successor is taken into consideration and I so much accept the credibility of the adage which stipulates that what is good for the goose is also good for the gander, so, the issue of whether Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s interest will be the top priority can be significantly guaranteed if one anchors his argument on this premise alone but more reasons abound.
Furthermore, most people can justify that the experience of the zoning ordinance in Enugu State’s political narrative has a lot to do with this relative peace we enjoy in the state today because the number of the aggrieved remains insignificant while the number of verifiable beneficiaries keep moving up the index stand irrespective of party or religious affiliations. Today, the people of Enugu do not see themselves as PDP or APC members, rather they see themselves as one big united family under a stable umbrella firmly held high by the ODOZI OBODO of his generation; His Excellency, Rt. Dr. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi; the Executive Governor of Enugu State. Today, the people of Enugu State are not united by the vainglorious quest for bogus popularity but a common theme and vision for a peaceful and advanced society with the potentials of becoming the investment capital of the world one day. Today, the people of Enugu are united by their applause and confidence in the ability of Gburu Gburu to deliver exceptionally well in his assignments as the chosen leader of his people. I am convinced that no rational compos mentis would rationalise any form of intimidation orchestrated to confuse or distract the hardworking governor of Enugu State. Simply put, Mr. FULFILLMENT should not be intimidated.
Sometimes, I also feel that those confusionists strategizing to influence the decisions of our amiable governor fail to consider the reality of triggering violence beyond a possible estimation for abrupt alteration of a long held tradition of zoning. Nevertheless, I believe that those apologists of the traditional breach of the zoning formula would live to witness the the manifestations of their careless disservice to their people.
I even wonder if those engineering confusion and formenting controversies concerning the race for 2023 in Enugu State forget in haste that heating up the polity and making the competition become so extreme will create another chance for the people of Enugu North Senatorial Zone from where Gburu Gburu comes from to access another opportunity to produce the next governor of the state as a result of their daring numerical strength of viable electorates. Do we need to be lectured that if the people of Enugu North should form a formidable unity in support of one their own; strengthening their ties with other zone with sound strategies still stands the chance to win the governorship position of ENUGU STATE, and if you study the history of Nigerian politics, you will discover that Enugu North will not be the first senatorial district to produce two consecutive governors in a state, therefore, no need for intimidation.
It is upon the above running premises that I advise those whose only tool for pursuing political interests is intimidation in Enugu State to upgrade their thought process and try their luck at the presidency or other international positions and stop recycling themselves within Enugu State and certainly they will enjoy our support and mobilization. Those passionate proponents of confusion and intimidation walking our political space should take pride in trimming their envy, greed and speed ,so that their protruding rough edges can mettle away in the heat of their humility and integrity because for no just course, GOVERNOR IFEANYI UGWUANYI should not to be intimidated.
ENUGU STATE IS IN THE HANDS OF GOD.
