“You cannot put something on nothing and expect it to stand”
The above quotable quote (apologies to Chuba Okadigbo of blessed memory) constitute a modicum, yet philosophically ridden and enduring in content amongst bazillion of timeless truth for which perhaps one of the generals in the legal field, Lord Denning, would ever be remembered. The law Lord was damn right in his frame and merits which rightly trans-generated reverence. To hoist a thing on imaginary nothing portends grave misconception of logics and natural course, a reasonable expectation in concord with whatever input made.
Stripped of its philosophical underlining, it’s even more so commonsensical that one who tardy in preparation would always be caught flatfooted by failure. Another is “Wars are won before the field clashing of titans”

People who decry the massive rot in our public schools in the country and the recocheting consequences of massive production of unemployable graduates who are paper certified deviod of genuine knowledge and experience befitting a well drilled school leaver are still drooling the successive governments inability to halt the deterioration. The mischief crept in during grooming days of secondary education where the drive for knowledge is at the apex if properly guided or wane irredeemably to the discredit of school administrive fulcrum. Take for example, an ugly scenario where students perceive the academic walls as caging rings, they feel unjustly coerced into dungeons called classrooms only to feel reprieve at the unmusical singing of the bell. Situation where instructors feel less indebted to either pupils or the larger insensitive government would always refract a tremendous comeuppance on the innocent pupils who have deserted home love for knowledge seeking yet return robbed off anything pseudo-knowledge.
What can one make out from an array of cubicles wearing ghost looks called rooms for classes?
Without mincing words most public schools structures are in exsanguinating state of disrepair that it would be better to deny them government affiliation.

Little wonder, the above created dilapidated pictures of public schools solidified into burning topics for debating contest. Most of the raging debating topics in Secondary schools subtly lay bare the weakness of public schools over private ones masterly run by adept hands. This disturbing view of schools crawled into every mind and ramified as time goes by. The results is contempt and utter despise for any institution whose management stems from the reclusive government steering.

The veritable elixir for this primary and secondary education convulsions is definitely not out of reach but on our door steps. If we must have pupils with electrifying brain functions and promising futures, we must provide the breathing space for them. Government must deliver her management to eradicate ignorance and illiteratacy from her citizens. like the karmic injunction, ” If a man expects a woman to be an angel in his life. He must first build her heaven. Angels don’t live in hell.” In the same light, if we want to see our wards soar higher and blossom into reckoning forces in their chosen fields then we are obliged to create the breeding stable. Great minds do not incubate perpetually in Augian Stables.

And so, is the case with Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board, ENSUBEB. The repositioning of public schools in Enugu State to regain her past glories is a task the government of Governor Ugwuanyi in rewarding romance with the ENSUBEB foreman, Chief Ikeji Asogwa has underwritten to bear as far the state’s coffers can ferry them.
Governor Ugwuanyi has proved his non gambling stance with the academic fortune of our people via the unceasing expenditures gulped so far by the educational innards of the state.
Of more promising limb in the ENSUBEB trivalent recapturing of the system is that of psychological reworking on the primitive beliefs and predisposition of teachers and redirecting same for efficiency and results orientation. Certainly, training and retraining of teachers is a program not unfamiliar to our european counterparts which keeps the instructor abreast with the technological strides of the new world saving them embarrassment from privileged spoilt brats. It is momentous that ENSUBEB management reinforced this academic booster box especially at this trying times phobias and disinterestedness.

Payment of salaries and awarding promotion at the appropriate time in this writer’s view, is more an incentive for greater inclusiveness and non- begrudge discharge of public duties by teachers to their pupils. Though, no monetary blessings can extinguish the services worth of a happy teacher. However, by way of extrapolating milestones recorded by ENSUBEB in piecemeal, one can gladly say without equivocation that the future holds good for Enugu State children.

There will be obstacles. There will be doubters. There will be mistakes. But with hard work, there are no limits. We appreciate our workaholic Governor
