Francis Chigbo Enemuo in his book “Elements of Politics” postulates that women constitutes half of the world’s population and have contributed significantly to the well-being of human race.
Governor Ugwuanyi since the inception of his administration see women and youth empowerment as a precondition for and as an indicator of the level of success in the attainment of sustainable human development.
In Nigeria, youths constitute about 70 percent of the population. Former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo believes that identifying and addressing issues that would enhance the lives of the youths would improve overall national development. He went further to say that; youths constitute Nigeria’s only hope for a real future.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi since elected and sworn in as the executive governor of Enugu state focused more on youths and women empowerment for the overall welfare of Ndi Enugu. Women and youths are fully involved in his government. He engages women and youths knowing very well that if women and youths are trained, rightfully empowered and productively engaged, the tendencies of giving in to crime and other social vices would be minimal.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi believes that the best way to wrestle the broblem of insecurity is by ingaging the young ones. If the youths are not properly engaged and empowered, it will be very difficult to achieve a crime free state not minding a large sums apportioned to security.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi believes and has paid more attention on dreams and aspirations of the youths and women by providing platforms that have helped them thrive and further developed themselves. Governor Ugwuanyi has taken many youths of the state out of street of Enugu through youth empowerment and schorlarship programmes. This has made them to be useful to their families and the society at large. The youths and women are also invoved in governance, with this he reassures The Youths that they are leaders of tomorrow.
Recently, there have been cases of killings pepertuated by unknown gunmen in other neighbouring states of Enugu but leadership style of Governor Ugwuanyi has helped curbed criminality in the state. Truely Enugu state is in the hands of God.
Governor Ugwuanyi’s template for empowerment has unlocked a window of opportunities for women and youths of Enugu state. This is vital in building of dependable and viable future for Ndi Enugu that we all will be proud of.
