President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday met with a former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
Naija News reports that the meeting which is currently being held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, is in connection to Okonjo-Iweala’s ambition to become the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Also at the meeting between Buhari and Okonjo-Iweala are the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Zubair Dada; and the Minister of State, Industry Trade and Investment, Maryam Katagun.
This online news platform reports that the 66-year-old served as Nigeria’s first female finance and foreign minister.
She has a 25-year career behind her as a development economist at the World Bank, eventually becoming its number two.
Okonjo-Iweala is also on Twitter’s board of directors and is a special envoy for the World Health Organization’s Covid-19 fight.
