Build the youth, build the nation is an eternal axiom that has assumed a life of it’s own. Engage the youth meaningfully and you would have succeeded in reducing violence, cultism and other vices. Youths are the leaders of tomorrow. The success of any administration is directly proportional to the success of the youths in the society. Governor Ugwuanyi has since realized the Igbo adage of “emee nwata ka emere ibe ya , obi adi ya mma”. That “what is good for the goose is also good for the gander” is also an eternal truth.
Due to covid-19 and insecurity across the country, the recent cancelled THANK YOU solidarity rally scheduled to hold by ENUGU YOUTHS for Governor Ugwuanyi shows that all youths in Enugu state are with Ugwuanyi and all the good things his administration has done for the entire Enugu people especially the youth.
Governor Ugwuanyi’s administration has many good plans for the youth for which many have been implemented, many still on-going and many more to be unveiled.
Some of the ones implemented include employment of over 5,000 qualified youths to teach in both primary and secondary schools and technical colleges in the state through the state’s Post Primary School Management Board (PPSMB), Science Technical Vocational School Management Board (STVSMB), and Enugu state Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) respectively in 2019.
The recruitment continued in 2020/2021 under ENSUBEB after many young applicants seemed to have lost all hope after the initial exercise in 2019. Their hope was rekindled by the people loving governor, His Excellency Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, as they were called up to start documentations and appointment letters were issued to them.
Ask questions! It is on record that when Hon Rita Mbah was Commissioner in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, many young vibrant youths were recruited into the Ministry, to join the state cultural troupe which later participated in different cultural fiestas and festivals organized for youths by the government of Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
During the last local government election in Enugu state, Ugwuanyi’s administration opened door for young dogged youths to showcase their capacities. Many of them made it and were elected into offices as local government Chairmen and community councilors. It can only be Governor Ugwuanyi and it’s marvellous in their eyes. The likes of Hon Pascal Ifeanyi Agu of Udi LG, Hon Ejike Itodo of Igbo-Eze North LG and his Igbo-Eze South counterpart, Hon Pedro Okwy Nwankwo of Awgu LG , Hon Chukwudi Nnadozie of Uzo-Uwani LG , Hon Emeka Onunze of Enugu North LG, and rest of them. They are all young vibrant youths who are doing well in their various local governments.
Governor Ugwuanyi is also alleviating the sufferings of the youth and stabilizing them through ENUGU SME. His administration has trained and empowered a very large number of students and youths while many are undergoing training in various fields of career development. Unlike what obtained in the past, qualified youths can now access loans and grants with ease. Ugwuanyi also understands that the major problem militating against accessibility of loans and grants by the youths is the absence of A business name . He immediately swung into action and went into partnership with the CORPORATE AFFAIRS COMMISSION (CAC) for free registration of business names by students and youths of the state. Many students and youths can now boast of their individual business names. The writer of this article is equally a beneficiary.
Training, retraining and engagement of students and youths in different trades of their choices continue at SME ENUGU. And Ugwuanyi’s administration established the programme, aimed at promoting vocational studies for the teeming youths so as to continue to address our everyday job needs such as welding , plumbing works, Auto-mechanics, Electricians, Brick laying, Masonry, Drivers, Automobile craftsmen, tailoring, etc.
Ugwuanyi in his youth engagement policies have continued to give scholarship to Enugu state students, law students, and other students who have distinguished themselves. This administration has continued to produce innovators and young vibrant scholars.
To ensure that all the youths are carried along in the state, Governor Ugwuanyi has embraced the legal approach and duly registered students and youth groups and associations with relevant government authorities. He believes engaging them brings brighter today and future. Governor Ugwuanyi has been steadfast in appreciating various youth organizations by appointing the group leaders as his aides. Leaders of Nkanu youth, Awgu youth, Aninri youth, Agbaja youth, Enugu West youth, Coal City youths have all benefited.
The last but not the least, Ugwuanyi’s administration has done well in the recruitment of youths into his security chart. Many were employed as Forest guards, Neighbourhood watch and community policing.
Governor Ugwuanyi’s youth inclusion and engagement has reduced crime, violence, destruction of lives and property, idle minds, cultisms, suicide, and has produced young vibrant leaders at the local government and state levels.
Let’s truly appreciate the government of Rt. Honorable Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who has done well and still doing more in all critical sectors of the state economy.
